New to forum: Autoload new swiss? Files too fragmented?

Hello!

I traded my raspberry pi 3b+ (megapi, 8bitdo M30’s, 256GB Sandisk microSDXC class 10, heatsinks, composite cables and 240p firmware, raspbian lite setup with attractmode and advmame) for a GameCube DOL-001 with Xeno GC Modchip, blue led modded, Action Replay disc and sd memory card reader. Figured it would be easier for my kids to play. First time I ever traded something online, and I ended up getting screwed. It arrived missing the power cable, case broken and missing bottom port covers, LED wasn’t modded, burned disc and action replay memory card (no sd compatibility). Seller ignores me. Lost out. Live and learn.

So now I have another stock and working DOL-001 for case parts, e-durable brand nintendo tools to swap case, citrus3000psi SD2SP 1.2a, 64GB Sandisk microSDXC USH-1, and waiting for post to deliver NickDisc (eBay) swiss boot disc r688. Easier to purchase than burn, since my kids a few years back got a disc stuck in my iMac.

Setting up the SD card. Will swiss automatically find the updated swiss (swiss_r756-compressed.dol) file in root of sd card and load it?

Welcome, I don't know much about Raspi hardware, but to me the trade doesn't seem quite fair from the beginning.
As a basis, I always consider a familly used GC setup as beeing more prone to be reliable than a modded one that you don't know the quality of the work that has been done and the abuse different parts may have encounter (I specially think about Pot-tweaked drives in chip-modded consoles).

Anyways, don't scrap the genuine one, use the trashy one as is.
What is on the burned disc? Can you boot it?

If you can boot SWISS off the NickDisc, it will show SD content then you can boot SWISS from it again. But you then had better setup a GamExploit with an AR. Anyways, if you set up a gamexploit, you will not need a xeno chip modded GC anymore and use the genuine one.

Too bad you didn't ask here first to know where to begin.

NickDisk swiss r688 arrived. Using sp2sd, reload to r766. Tested everything. This is awesome. Interface is so easy, my kids will love it!

However, almost every game I tried yields this error “ Failed to setup the file too fragmented”. I used SDformatter for mac which setup exFAT filesystem. From what I have read, I need files to be copied contiguously? Any tips or help?

Removed files off sd card, using sd formatter app, and drag/drop all files at once onto sd card. Every game my kids tried now works.

Ordered the code junkies sd media launcher. Got a 2gb non-sdhc SD card from gamestop for 0.99usd. Figured I would try this method to autoboot new swiss from sd card and skip a step.

File fragmenting is a big concern, in general, avoid writing files from a Mac's Finder, as it fills the volume with lots of garbage files, and those files are sometimes written interleaved with the files you're copying, if you copy multiple files, select them all at once, or copy them one by one, waiting each time for the copy process to be fully done, or writes will be interleaved, and big files fragmented. I had hard times filling my 64GB with 45ISOs, and still didn't find a sure way to have them all not fragmented, I'll probably create a thread about that.
On a MAC, Apple's Disk Utility can format to exFAT too, but you better have a FAT32 formatted card to boot SWISS on the SD2SP2's µSD straight off a game exploit, and skip one more step. Unless you prefer your kids have one card per game, for their ease of use.
While the SDML is a sure way to access homebrew since it can run off a genuine console, you now have two standalone setups. (Xeno GC/NickDisk/SD2SP2 & GC/SDML/µSDGecko) 8-)

We support up to 38 fragments. Something is horribly wrong if your files have more than 30 fragments.

Yes, but Windows' defrag doesn't get to that point of detail, I see in the report that the most fragmented files aren't split in more than two parts, but I see too much red in the GUI! :P
