to clarify...

1. connect the official cable in interlaced mode
2. connect multi-out cable RGB/Composite while still in interlaced mode...
3. verify both (or all three) interlaced video sources are displayed in interlaced mode...
4. then start swiss to force progressive (cant immediately boot into swiss on start up due to its auto-sense/forced progressive mode)

5. determine if interlaced RGB/Composite drop out once progressive is forced...

note: also consider swiss may be doing something different than using a xeno to allow NTSC titles on PAL GC

But I would use a WKF anyway. Cheaper, smaller and flashable with Swiss!

Kinda confused on how the list for 2nd run is going, as it only shows one person? unless that just isn't updated.
In any case, would also like to have a go at this, would be really interesting. Looking forward to new developments.

That is part of the first run, the second list is for optical audio out only.

i don't remember what was modded about it. i think it was made from a d-sub

the only reason to mod a component cable is to convert it to display VGA, or to add a switch to have selectable VGA/YPBPR display....or to tap into the data lines to add digital audio...
i think we can maybe use your modded cable to gather some data...
just to confirm, your modded cable now has VGA output right??

it appears the VGA display for interlaced video is at 15khz and progressive mode at 31khz...
so unless you have a VGA monitor capable of displaying 15khz, i imagine you receive no video output on VGA during interlaced mode...
note: doesnt matter if you have interlaced video from VGA, just want confirmation on your setup. please confirm if you have video from your VGA cable while in interlaced mode..

here is what we are testing for:

1. with or without VGA video while in interlaced mode, connect the multiout video cable and confirm both analog RGB and composite signal are available. << this should be yes else you have issues.

2. with a PAL GC there is no progressive option on pal software titles so either use a modchip or swiss to force a title to 480p/576p progressive display. please confirm VGA video is available in progressive mode.

3. while still in progressive mode, confirm if analog RGB and composite video signals are still displayed. <<this is what we are really looking for to confirm LM chip compatibility...

thanks

I just discovered TaoBao (chinese ebay), and the search (B012355) shows promising search results: http://s.taobao.com/search?q=B012355&se ... z_20121211

With a TaoBao agent like http://www.mistertao.com, shipping can be incredible low. Maybe it's not that cheap/possible in the end, but worth trying I think. Shipping with a TaoBao agent has (much) positive feedback in my country.

there are many...many...many....sites that can be found with a basic google search which show the MX chip listed with a quantity of stock and a price....problem is, most sites like that one do not have the chip...or they do not reply to your email at all...

i spent many months last year sending emails out to every site i could find....

as i posted earlier within this thread, and as i have discussed on IRC many times, there is only one confirmed place i found which had these chips...the chips they had available were the MXB012355 and the MXB012455
since i didnt know what was the MXB012455, i did not purchase those and only ordered the MXB012355.
then a few months later there was a pic posted in this thread which shows the MXB012455 on an official component cable board...
so that pic confirms that stash of MXB012455 is also usable...

btw, since no one asked me for details on purchasing those remaining chips, look what arrived today

Hi, really awesome you found a source for the chips, super excited. What would a man have to do to get one of those?

1. wait a few weeks till they go on sale
2. buy one before they run out

Hey all, im new. I have specifically made an account bacause I am mighty interested in this project. However, i do have a few questions.

-Is this a digital cable with digital video AND digital audio for gamecube?
-Or is this a modded/custom made gamecube component cable with only digital sound output?

Either way, i want to buy one megalomaniac.

Any idea on the asking price megalomaniac? I would pay 50 euros upwards in a heartbeat ;)
