Pin20 question on restoring d-terminal cable to component

Hiya!

I got fairly cheaply from eBay a d-terminal cable that was modded for RGB by a previous person. My intention is to restore it to normal Component output since RGB is no problem for PAL cubes.
The cable itself was a mess but the gamecube side plug was untouched. I just got it and opened it to see this, it sure is "modded" for composite

luckily the important stuff was nicely done to my surprise , maybe a different person did this:



So naturally I went on, removed the resistor and connected the pin to it's original pad:





And now after this lengthy introduction, here is my question: what do I do with the black wire that is connected to PIN20 (that according to the wiki it controls video switching) ?



Do I just use it as GND? or there is further modding to do since this was a d-terminal cable originally?

For YPBPR just connect RGB colored cables to the RGB pads

The white and grey could be used for HV and black for GND, but you would only need that for RGBHV VGA
While you have it open, you could connect a switch to have YPBPR and RGBHV compatibility.
The switch is a 3 pole 2 position type like those used for the region mod

Pad to side
Pin to center
Resistor to side

This will let you swap video output type like I did on the MEGA3

About white+grey: they are both connected to the ground plane, just re-checked it with my multimeter. Do they need lifting for H/V?
Edit: you mean disconnect them from GND and use them for H/V by soldering them on the corresponding pins, right? So you keep the original cable in 1 piece?

From what I understood those 3 wires (white/grey/black) are left unconnected and I just connect RGB ones to corresponding YP/BP/R with a common ground (the shielding is good right?)

Great Thread. I just got the same cable with the same awful blue 3rd party cable attached to it.
Now like you I have a beautiful Component cable but for a fraction of the price.
