Disk Drive?

Just curious, by why is it that every Portable I see that uses a Disk Drive rather than a Modchip, the Disk Drive is un covered on the back?

My guess is because at the time they were made no alternative homebrew loading methods were available other than a modchip which requires the dvd drive

When they use a disk drive I guess they like to show off that the disk is spinning? In my opinion, a cover should definitely be added to those portables cause you can only imagine the dust/other crap that would get on the laser lens.
