I want to make duplicates of Panasonic Q parts...

I thought I'd post this here as it's a fairly specialised topic which I thought might be of interest to people on this forum. I have a Panasonic Q which has a broken DVD drive tray, which is apparently a fairly common issue (and displays rather poor build quality from Panasonic). I was going to just glue or epoxy it back together and hope for the best, but as I happen to have another intact Q lying around, I thought it would be an idea to make a mould of the tray rails. I thought some of you may have used casting materials to make portables, etc and so may be able to offer some advice on what to use, especially in order to get the final product to be an accurate enough reproduction while also being rigid enough to use as a replacement?

This sounds like a good idea considering parts for the Q are hard to find. Ashen is probably the guy to ask

So i acquired a Panasonic Q and knowing one or both rails would be broken. So this is the second the first was badly damaged during shipping. The second packed MUCH better. So question in the picture the guy shows a broken rail with what looks like the mystery metal piece in it which I am trying to determine if this is where it goes on the left rail towards the front of the drive rail. Help is greatly appreciated.

I'm not familiar with Panasonic Q, or the ability/quality of cast-ed parts, but Rose colored gaming has some SLA 3D printed replacement rails. I believe it's the same rails you guys are talking about. Quite expensive IMO, but might give those who are looking at this some ideas, and possibly different method to try if someone else wants to continue pursuing it.

sorry zincmann, no idea.
