Thanks Ashen....big success. I manage to get my wii disk drive to work. It can read both original GC games and Mini DVD-r GC disc. It even can go ingame playing. Im so happy now....later i'll try to burn into Full size DVD-r GC Disc to test.

Hmmm. I cant really say for sure. I doubt there will be any conflict though because the Wiikey/WODE will be doing all the work. As far as the Qoob will see it, everything coming from the "drive" will be legit. Therefore the Qoob will have no reason to try to patch the drive? Maybe...

On the other hand, there's really no reason to leave to Qoob attached? May as well remove it if you're having trouble.

Just boot the Qoob cube with X held down and it'll go to the original IPL. A Qoob PRO would make sense to have installed so you can have some homebrew on the flash for quick booting, whereas the Qoob SX cannot have anything on the flash other than the BIOS which will allow loading from DVD-R (Which is useless if you put in a WODE). Unless you have a BBA which you can netcat some files over and dump a disc..

How did you do this? I connected my wii discdrive to the WODE and it did not play backup games. It loaded the backup into the boot menu but when you select it it shows a black screen. It did load originals though. Could you make a video of it actually loading in game with a backup in the drive??

zenloc, it's only up to a certain drive version that backups will work via this method, is your drive perhaps too new?

I haven't had the patience to hook up a drive to a GC even though thinking about it now it wouldn't be very difficult.. so I can't answer that question.

but yes, the first wii drive should of course work.

Hmmm strange it doesn't work. Maybe it's a WODE firmware related issue. I'm going to mess around with it tomorrow and see if older firmware will make a difference.

Awesome!!! I installed 2.8B (latest and last I believe) and everything is working perfect. Backup from mini-dvds and full size dvds work!! This is great news. Thanks for showing that it worked. Tried a wii multidisc game but sadly after it loaded gcos when I have to select boot dvd it sees the drive but just goes back to the boot dvd screen. So it doesn't load the disc.

Emu_kidid - Could it have anything to do with the gcos version I have on the disc? What do you think it could be?

It's either:
1.) GCOS is too outdated to know about that Wii drive (I can't remember how I coded it to know if it's a Wii or not back then)
2.) The Wode doesn't let the 0xD9 command through to the drive
3.) I'm going to make Swiss auto-bootable like GCOS was when I get around to it.

Very good news indeed. I'll have to see if I can get one of my slimmed drives working.

Nice video. I doubt we can get the new wii drive to work with backups. As they can't run backups on the wii.

Now all that's left is someone to make a portable with a wode, discdrive, hdd, component cable for 480p and a 7" widescreen 480p screen. The ultimate gamecube portable!! You obviously know what my next project is going to be :P

the qoob installation diagram shows one point for 5V:

about the 3.3V lines, i think ashen mentioned it somewhere in a thread....calling ashen to the rescue, over.
