What do I need!?

Post by tjstogy » Sat Apr 15, 2017 7:16 am

Hey guys-- can someone please explain to me what I need to buy, I'm more confused searching the forums than when I arrived lol...

- I'd like to be able to have an "everdrive" experience with the gamecube-- in other words, load EVERY game onto either a hard drive or an sd card (is this possible?) and play it from a menu. I don't care about disc functionality, unless I can't fit every game onto the hard drive/sd card-- in which case I wouldn't mind a combo deal. Is there something like this that I can purchase today?

Thanks!

I would have suggested BadAss Consoles' MEGAdrive with a WASP, but you'll have a hard time finding any now. You can still use any other modchip, a Datel Action Replay or a game exploit to boot Swiss up and load games from an SD Gecko.

Most options are out of stock or production.
The common modchips are XenoGC clones. Reliable and affordable, but needs a boot disc.

The action replay is still being sold.

Hmm, am I looking in the wrong place? Datel only offers sd media launcher (USA or PAL). You might be too late if using a japanese gamecube...

Right, they are the same thing now anyway. For a Jap console, you can just do the region mod, but then at this point you might as well get a XenoGC in there as well.

the though part will be to get EVERY game on an sd card ;)
in that case you can only go for a hard disk and connect it via ide-exi or wode
please search before you ask - a lot has been discussed already!

I'm sorry but this is all Greek to me- I see a lot of different names of things being recommended here and I don't know anything about them. Which is the best recommendation, today in May of 2017? I don't mind hooking up a hard drive but could you tell me exactly what I need to purchase, and what to download to make this all work? Thank youuuuu

This is also something I am interested in. I'm fairly new to GameCube (it came out shortly before joining the military, so I did not play it until recently due to not having time). From what I can grasp, I need the following:

Xeno GC mod chip, which needs to be soldered to the disc drive.
SD Gecko or equivalent.
SD Card(s) with SWISS

As much as I like the idea of having every GC game on one SD card, I'd probably just load games as I want to actually play them or do bulk small SD cards and print unique labels for them (I'm a dork like that). I also imagine it would be nice to have different SWISS configurations for different games (wide screen, and compatibility options and such).

50 Euros though? You can tell they're rare now, they used to be dirt cheap on eurasia.nu.
