I can highly recommend using the DVD QSB if you are only going to install a WASP/WIIKEY FUSION and you do not want to keep the DVD drive. I used it for this purpose and it was very simple to install. You just need to make sure you add sufficient solder to the through hole vias. Also to make it work, you will need to use an FFC cable with opposite side contacts.

Nice project! Is there any adapter that drops into the connector on the DVD drive, similar to the one delivered with the MEGAdrive V1? I would really like to have a solution for the cubes where I already removed the drive connector on the main board of the Game Cube.
