Hi. I have a few questions:
1) Is it possible to use Viper GC (not Extreme) without the Gamecube optical drive (using iplboot as a replacement BIOS on the Viper GC)?
2) If yes, is the instalation of the modchip on Gamecube the same (4 wires to solder and a solder bridge)?
3) What about the two connectors of the lid sensor switch on Viper GC modchip? Just leave them disconnected or do I need to bridge it to simulate the lid always closed?
4) Does the latest revision of iplboot (which boots from SD2SP2) support SDHD/SDXC or just SDSC (2GB or less)?
Thank you.

All homebrew released since 2009 support SDHC/XC. Additionally, iplboot is one of the few things that support exFAT.

Is this worth upgrading my Viper GC to iplboot?
What are the advantages? Can I revert back to ViperGC OS?
Thanks
EDIT - Anyone have screenshots of this new bios in action?

To compile iplboot with SD2SP2 support requires the latest devkitPPC(rolling release)
Compiled file will be too large for qoob SX, requires qoob Pro.
I will not compile it for you.
Here is a link to the repo
https://github.com/redolution/iplboot NO LONGER MAINTAINED
This is roughly how you do:

if you are on debian/ubuntu
- Install latest devkitpro-pacman then run
- Install Clang and 32bit gcc libraries
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install clang gcc-multilib
- Create Clang symlink
Code: Select all
ln -s /usr/bin/clang $DEVKITPPC/bin/powerpc-eabi-clang
- Locate PAL 1.0 IPL put it in the same directory as the makefile and name it ipl.rom
- Run make
but i do not know how to get it to output the viper gc file.
Sending me a PM about this will probably link you to this.
