Good question... I bought it second handed, so who knows what happened to it...

Anyways, I also opened up my madcats 118 blocks card and my 4Mb Draxter card.

I doubt this is a genuine one. It looks really crappy inside. I don't think Nintendo would place that nasty black blob instead of using real ICs.

Genuine, high quality memory card looks like this:

Maybe they cheaped out on these 1019 blocks memcards.

EDIT:
It's fake. It was discussed on gc-forever before: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=2474

Rubbish, the largest supported cards are 2043 blocks (16MB/128Mbit).

Edit: It's not a fake either, it's just a later model than the other cards with epoxy applied to prevent probing.

you are correct 2043 blocks is the largest supported, forgot about that :D

16MB is 0.015625 gigabytes. An SD gecko cannot be used as a memory card.

Lately I have been toying around the idea of internalizing an SD card slot. I like Ashen's Diagram for his portable trimming guide and used it extensively. I found this to be a good option and I am going to give it a try.

So I wired up an SD socket, my question is do I need to do anything with sense? I installed the SD socket for the purpose of flashing Swiss when my WASP arrives. If I do need sense, where do I need to wire?

You only need to short the sense pins on the GC side, the SD slot sense switch can be ignored. Or you can wire the SD sense to the GC sense and it will work as intended.

Well, what you have is the gc usb adapter. This is a 3rd party accessory.

Bog standard flash, a custom controller for the GC side and another microcontroller for the USB side. And apparently some SRAM. I guess they use it as a cache of some sorts?
