I noticed that your FFC cables are very long. I'm searching for those 32 pin flat ribbon cables, but can't find them. Or maybe you fabricated something yourself?
Looks like you are in luck :)

I got them from ebay UK but the info on the bags that they came in led me right to your doorstep.

I used a 127mm long FFC for the front of the DVD board in the link below.

Farnell :D. I looked there once, but couldn't find them. Plus free shipping (if you can send under company's name), thank you!!

I've only just got around to booting up my GC after taking those photos the other day and it seems that when I was pulling it apart to take them I must have dislodged some bad connections because the poem on Eternal Darkness is playing fine now on the original and backup.

The audio for the Nintendo and Silicon Knights logo still won't play but hopefully once I track down and replace the bad connections which are more than likely on the rushed FFC cable that I mentioned earlier the audio streaming problems that I have been having will be gone.

UPDATE: Finally got around to re wiring that FFC cable and the audio streaming problems are completely gone now. Audio streaming works fine via flat-mode + XenoGC for originals and backups so now I can play all games without audio streaming from HDD/SD and the rest that have audio streaming from disc :D

I doubt that I will ever manage to get the disc ripping feature to work though. Although I can't understand why because surely if it can play a game then it can read and dump it too. Nevermind it's not like I really need it anyway.
im testing now and cant seem to play the audio on the poem for eternal darkness....

what wode firmware version are you using and does your wode have the slow FPGA?
slow FPGA (as defined by ashen) will allow loading games off of 1.28 firmware and below)

any particular settings on the wode?

also when you had streaming audio, your drive was directly connected to wode with no other connections anywhere else?? (except for maybe power and gnd)

thanks

I thought that I had a slow FPGA at first because the WODE would always get stuck on the loading screen with firmware above 1.28 but it turned out to be the regulator that I was using for 3.3v. Once I replaced the regulator for a better one or took 3.3v from the drive board firmware above 1.28 worked fine. I now use the latest firmware v2.9 or anything above 1.28 works just as well for me due to the fact that now for some strange reason any firmware below 1.28 will not read any ISOs :?

It's been a while since I added the WODE to that Game Cube so my memory is not very good. I think that I will read through this thread again to see if I can jog my memory a bit but off the top of my head:

I can't remember any settings on the WODE affecting audio streaming and the drive was directly connected to the WODE apart from power and gnd. Those extra wires coming from the drive board on the picture further up this page were power, gnd and eject for the slave board.

The only thing that I can think of at the moment is to try lowering the pot. Audio streaming games seem to be a lot more demanding on the drive and laser and I found that I had to lower the pot significantly with the drive connected through the WODE, especially for backups.

Hmmm
I'll mess around with the laser resistance on my next try but my non-mod drive was factory set to 186 which reads originals and my xeno drive should be about 200 if I remember...
Both play discs in flat mode

The only other problem that I had with audio streaming as far as I remember is bad connections. I think it was one of the audio bus connections, pins 1, 3 or 5 on the Gamecube. Give those connections another check, you never know.

Have you tried audio streaming with the WKF yet? If it works on the WKF then you will know that your wiring is fine.

Nice one, glad you got it sorted :)

I still can't work out why I had to lower my pot so much. Maybe it has something to do with my wireporn.
