My Megadrive is with 3 holes closed. Can proceed with the installation as usual?

That's right, after I put the correct region everything worked. After I posted pictures of my installation as it was with the help of a technician friend of mine. Thank you.

@kel01
audiostreaming confirmed working with GC/Wii + Wii DVD drive + wiikeyfusion + megawire mod

here are the specifics:

When WKF is ON, it actively prevents audio streaming from SD and DVD.

Code: Select all

WKF CONFIGURATION : ON, ON, ON (ALL), ON, ON
Audio Streaming from DVD: Default Broken due to WKF ON setting
Originals: WORKS
Imports: WORKS
Backups: WORKS
Homebrew: WORKS

Audio streaming will never work when WKF ON..so lets turn WKF OFF....
When WKF is OFF it does not block audio streaming from SD and DVD...but it doesnt pass those signals properly either so the megawire mod works to bypass the WKF blockade.

Code: Select all

WKF CONFIGURATION : OFF, ON, ON (ALL), ON, ON
Audio Streaming from DVD: MegaWire Mod works to bypass the WKF blockade
Originals: WORKS
Imports: WORKS
Backups: NO
Homebrew: NO
Now, the kick in the pants part of this is when WKF is OFF, it does not allow backup DVDs, so only original discs can played. The solution, add a wiikey v1 to the DVD drive to patch the drive allowing backup discs to be used...Now the wii/GC will see the backup DVD as an original...

Code: Select all

WKF CONFIGURATION : OFF, ON, ON (ALL), ON, ON + wiikey v1
Audio Streaming from DVD: MegaWire Mod works to bypass the WKF block
Originals: WORKS
Imports: WORKS
Backups: WORKS
Homebrew: WORKS
all discs work and audio streaming works...
of course i did not have a wiikey v1 so i had to make my own

Nice work mega. In hindsight, now knowing about your megawire mod and the correct WKF settings I doubt that I would have ever got streaming to work on the Wii, nevermind streaming with backups 8-)

The only downside is that you would need an early Wii drive that works with the wiikey v1 or a D2CKey for backups. As far as I know the later drive chips don't support GC audio streaming, although I haven't personally tried any. noobcube has tried most drive chips on the wii from what I remember so he should know more about which chips work and which don't.

here is what my megawire mod looks like on the WKF...
instead of opening the wii and tearing it apart a lot more to access a solder point, i just soldered the wire directly onto the WKF...

I've made some changes to Swiss which should eliminate the need to install a xenoGC with a Wiikey Fusion too. You should be able to read backup media without a modchip if you take out your SD Card from the WKF slot and go to "Boot DVD" in Swiss.

When installing a Auto-Boot WKF into my GC with a MegaDrive, other than the 32 pins that go to the Gc, what other wires do I have to add from the cube onto MegaDrive. I'm only using the WKF alone. No DD switching, it's for a portable. I couldn't find an answer on the 24 pages. I might of overlooked it though. Sorry!

WKF only in a portable, you need to add a lid switch...and also i suggest a pin29 switch ( because you never know )

I won't be playing any dual disk games so no lid switch and I'll take my chances with the pin 29. So all I need to do is soldet the 32 pins sttaight on and nothing else? No audiofix thing?

if you are not ever going to use a lid switch, then solder the two LID pads together
If you dont want a pin29 switch, then solder the PIN29 pad and GND pad together

Nice testing Mega. I'm curious though... When using official WKF firmwares on ntsc ipl 1.0 boards my experience was even with the timing trick to get the loader menu at boot, the GC would hang when an iso was loaded from WKF menu and the GC was rebooted. There were a select few games that didn't exibit this behavior. But most did.

Well, sorry to put a damper on that one. At least we have Swiss, which is awesome and works on all boards. Once multidisc game support is added to WKF in Swiss there will be no reason at all to use the original WKF firmware anyway. And thats hardly reason to stick with it now. :D

I'm wiring my MegaDrive with wires rather than sliding it on the DVD pins. Do I only have to wirethe numbered ones from this diagram from DVD pads to MegaDrive or all 32?

Can In solder the 5v and GND to the pads you included in the board?
