MEGAdrive V3 interests me.............i have a couple of questions though


will the DVD connector already be soldered to the MEGAdrive V3 board or i have to solder it ?


and can the MEGAdrive V3 achieve audio in audio streaming games ?.............if im correct it can , thats what Pin 29 is for

On the version 4 i see that you removed the DVD connector in one piece. How did you do this? Any recommendations? I want to to this also for a project I'm working on.

Also, on the mega drive version 3, I don't see a audio streaming pad like the version 1. Will version 3 support audio streaming?

GREAT WORK BY THE WAY! Just joined the forum. I will definitely be buying these as soon as they come out.....

Indeed now that you mention it, people may want to use a Wii drive + WKF with v3, which the lack of said pad prevents. At least it's still possible to solder to the connector.

Thats weird we asked the same questions almost at the same time..... its like the twilight zone up in here!

V3 & V4 include the DVD drive plug


adding a GC or Wii DVD drive to V3 was not within the scope of the design but V3 is not very much different from V1 in terms of adding a Wii drive since it still requires the following to be performed:

First I want to congratulate you guys on showing so much love to the GC, a console I love too and that I think was really misunderstood at the time. It will always be, for me, the best of that generation. I've been using Swiss for a long time now, congrats to emu_kidid on that, he does a fantastic job even when it comes to addressing the public (i.e. when I sometimes post issues with swiss on google code) .
When I found this thread I rejoyced! I have 3 cubes but sadly only one of them works, the drives on the other two have stopped being able to read discs, I order two new lasers but they didn't work, well one did, for like about a couple of minutes and then back to nothing. So, I was looking for a WiiKey Fusion for one of them, then I found the Wasp Fusion and then I found this thread about the MEGADrive. I must say, congrats megalomaniac, you do a fantastic job, I can't wait to get my hands on a MEGADrive.
Speaking of that how do I get my hands on a V3 or a V4? When/where will they be for sale if they aren't already? I apologise if this is a question that has already been addressed, I'm new here, I'm very sick at the time so if my browsing through here was sufficient to turn up an answer, I'm sorry. It's just that I'm really excited about this and I'd really like to know.

Hello guys. I have a Wiikey Fusion with bad firmware. Is it possible to use the 1.2 Recovery Image on a Gamecube or it's only on Wii?

It's not released yet .-.

You can use the recovery image on the GC.

word of warning about the using the restore iso:
you will need to have a pin29 switch installed. Once the restore has been performed autoboot will no longer function and the only way to read the SD card is to trigger the read using the pin29 switch...

what makes you think the firmware is bad?

WKF/WASP + DVD drive = V4
i cannot fit WODE where i would like to at this point in time. there are alternatives on how to use a DVD drive + Wode at the same time but it requires huge customization on the user side...and most users who already have a WKF/WASP wired to a GC can also benefit...
ive had an idea about this for a while but never had time to get it designed...it would be a v4 + v5 hybrid...

Ok Streetwalker and megalomaniac, thanks for your answers. After a firmware upgrade it doesn't works anymore. So I guess the recovery could fix it.

Concerning WKF/WASP + DVD drive (V4), I want to use it for a Wiikey Fusion + DVD drive. Do you have (or will you have) a V4 board for selling?

its not a "board"....its a complete kit...

you want to buy just the "board" and try to solder it?
I provide no instruction or assistance on how to perform a self-solder installation for V4 because everything can go wrong making it impossible to troubleshoot via online communication...
go read a few pages back where i posted about v4 with the pics on how i soldered it together...there is a video showing the process involved posted there too...

I want the kit. I guess I can install it.

Megalomaniac, I'm interested to buy a megadrive v4 kit. Do you have it to sell?

And what about Wiikey Fusion, is it possible to buy another Wiikey Fusion for me nowadays?

Is it possible to install and use Megadrive V6 maintaining the use of the DVD Drive? Or is it possible only with Megadrive V4?
