GameCube Fusion Rev. 3

Post by Ashen » Wed Mar 07, 2012 7:22 pm

Yea, I know I'm supposed to be working on my Wii laptop, which I am. ;) However its been too cold here lately for me to be out in my garage doing bucket loads of sanding to the case. So what better to do than have a few projects going at once. Here's a sneak peak of the work I've got done on the Revision 3 Fusion. Its the size length and width wise of a PS Vita and will be 1 and 1/8th inch thick. 5400mah batteries. Yea.

Image

Its actually a little bit larger length and width wise than it needs to be, the reason for that will be revealed in the next model. ;)

The length and width of a PSV?
Wow.
I didn't know the PSV was such a monstrosity!

Very nice work. Looks mass produced.

Ashen, you should buy a better camera. The picture quality does not justify the incredible awesomeness I've just seen.

I know, my iPhone 3gs camera isn't quite cutting it anymore. Need to upgrade soon. ;)

Here's a bit of the inner layout of most stuff. You can see its a bit bigger than it needs to be really, only a few mm though.

Still a lot of wiring and stuff to do, I should have this one wrapped up pretty quick now though.

They just keep getting looking better each time 8-)

How do you get all those tiny holes so perfect?
You must have a very steady hand and a lot of patients.

So close I can taste it.

After a dead motherboard (not really dead, but suffered from seemingly irreparable audio noise) and having to rip it out of the case, new motherboard ripped out of case twice and 1 dead Wiikey Fusion (me being stupid, 12v to pin 29 does not a switchless wiikey make) I'm finally close to finishing this one up.

As you can see, theres not much wasted space at all in this one:

What do you guys think? Should I paint the triggers grayish? or leave them white?

just a question, the caps on the back of the screen, is there are reason why they have such long wires?

Thanks guys! I was thinking to keep the triggers white, but wanted a bit of confirmation.

I just elongated those caps a bit so I can get them out of the way and have the board lay completely flat. No other reason really.

ah that makes sense, it didn't occur to me that the screen was raised there compared to the sides where the caps are now going to sit - pretty smart thinking!

Yep. :D It only buy me maybe 2-3mm of headroom there. But it truly is needed, if I left them where they were the case would either not close properly or it would close with some force applied and put stress on the screen. Which would be bad imo, best to just move em.
