Soft mod for Panasonic GameCube (Q)

Hi I'm looking for ways to softmod my Panasonic Q - the beast is temperamental at best and I dont wish to open her up as I have heard of many
F76 errors relating to the Q. I know SD media launcher will allow me to boot GCOS but does anyone know whether or not SD ML is made for PanaQ?

The only versions I can find are the PAL and NTSC-U versions. I know how to mod the PQ but due to the F76 errors and a wish to keep the PQ as
original as possible I would love a softmod solution. So to clarify - does the PAL/NTSC-U Sd media launcher boot on a Japanese GC? I hope the Datel
discs have no specific region coding but seeing as they are sold as PAL or NTSC-U I assume they must be.

If anyone knows otherwise - any info is appreciated.
(Datel/Code Junkies have not been helpful and dont seem to want to answer any of my emails... Maybe too busy watching the World Cup!)

Hup Holland Hup!!

You could get a NTSC-J freeloader and use it to load up SDML NTSC-U.

thanks emu_kidid...

sorry for the late reply - busy watching fifa world cup! :)

I can confirm that freeloader (gamecube version) is completely region free
So by booting freeloader 1.06b and using a PAL version of sd media launcher i have been
able to boot GCOS to play backups and originals on my Q...

I think however that the Q may need a pot adjustment for stability issues...
My backups sporadically give DRE's...

Thanks again for the help and I hope someone else finds this info useful...

Its VERY hard to find Panasonic Q mod info online

As a side note can anyone help me to find a PAL DVD playback mod kit for the Q...
(involves a memory chip (NT56V16T16AOT i think...from a Panasonic RV31), 6x or 8x 180nf capacitors and 2x 12c508a chips (encoded with a bios?..?)
Everyone I have contacted seems to not sell them anymore - if anyone has a spare
kit lying around that they never used then I would be most interested in buying it for
a fair price

Shredman, I have this full kit with the instructions too someplace. I never got around to installing it in my unit.

I'd be willing to sell it, let me know where you're located so I can come up with a price + postage.

That's fantastic news!!

I live in Perth Western Australia...
I am under the impression that you also
live in Australia emu_kidid...
If so I can direct debit you with the funds...

GC-FOREVER!!! :)
My Q is the sexiest bit of gaming kit I've ever
owned and full PAL DVD playback would be
the icing on the cake...

Thanks again emu_kidid
