ocarina of time/ masters quest for gamecube controls

I have spare gc's but no ac adapters so cant test an actual gc atm.

On zelda (oot and tp) is lock on which is called 'L' button actually a partial press of L trigger? I heard only luigis mansion (for strength of vaccuum so not necessary), and mario sunshine and maybe another title or two make use of the partial trigger presses. For this reason I figured I would save the hassle and wire only a full click for the triggers. Seems a shame I cant play a classic like this properly because I left this out! (How can I deflect the nuts back @ those dudes in the deku tree and fight the tougher enemies/ bosses)
