Gamecube Component wiring question

I could use some expert help on this.

i have a working AlmostWTF cut gamecube motherboard.

System is a pal DOL-CPU(P)-10

I have the waspkey fusion wired up and working with Swiss autoboot
Got the memorycard(A) and sd card(B) wired up

Now i am trying to get VGA working.

I got a Gamecube DSUB Terminal cable and a ebay vga screen

same screen Ashen used here

he got vga working just fine, so the screen should be compatible.

In Swiss i force 480p widescreen on some games, the composite video stops and then the ebay screen starts to flicker (backlight goes on and off) and there is no video

i wired them up like this

i wired up the pins from the gamecube digital port : 2, 3, 7, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15, 16, 18

and pin 1 to 3,3v lifting the leg and 10k (big) resisitor

Does Swiss itself run in 480p for you? It should be if it's correctly detecting the component/vga cable...

It only boots into 480p when i connect pin 1 from where the resistor goes to the gamecube digital port pin 1, i dont know if this wire is needed.

but i get no video, funny thing is. when i start Swiss with compsite video, then attach the wire from pin 1 to the resistor on the mx chip (10k resistor to enable vga) it says detected in Swiss info screen.

That pin acts as a sense line for progressive compatibility IIRC.

Do D terminal cables need different wiring?

Nope. D-terminal carries component, only the connector changes.

Guess it's a faulthy cable then.

Pal IPL and component is not the problem?

Not that either. But before saying it's faulty do more testing. It would suck that a $150 cable is faulty. :/

Yes composite, the gamecube boots up with only composite working, in swiss when I start a game. I change the settings of this game to force 480p widescreen.
the game starts and the composite video goes black and the lcd starts flickering with no video.

I wired a vga connector to the video output the the mx chip, but no display on my pc whatsoever. Just says, no vga cable connected.

Swiss itself should switch to 480p automatically if the component cable is plugged in IIRC.

Could someone verify me what points I needs to solder up FROM the Digital port of the gamecube?
I have wired up

1, 2, 3, 7, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15, 16, 18

And I wired up Ground and 3.3V

Anyone?? I also tried soldering directly to the AVE P DOL chip, using Megalomaniac diagram

post a pic of your boards..
make sure its a good clean pic very close up...

make sure you dont have wire porn all over the place tangled up because that makes it harder to analyze the issue...

Eh, this might sound silly. But you are switching to VGA input on your LCD board after forcing to progressive right?

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I have composite connected to a different lcd, and the ebay screen on VGA mode.

I tested the vga from my laptop on the lcd, and confirmed working.

Ill redo the soldering to something neat, if I could only get the answers to the following questions

1. I only need to wire up the following :

VDATA 0 to VDATA 7
CLK SELECT
54MHZ
GND
3.3V

I don't need to wire Sense or 27Mhz?

I'd wire all the signals. If you don't wire sense you won't actually get 480p.

Well to clear things, the screen I bought just didn't support 480p. They claimed it did, even with windows set to 640x480 60hz It didn't show anything.
800x600 worked fine though.

I got another screen and it is working fine now...

Also I had to add more proper grounding and 3.3v wire was to thin, thickening those wire started the mx chip to start working..

Kinda strange cause I looked at other portables with component and they just used regular wire..

And I was almost giving up and wanted to go the composite route..
