Need Help fixing my Broken Component Cable / Useing MX Chip

Hey Guys,
i just bought an official Gamecube Component Cable. The Preowner did the VGA mod but it didn´t worked
I anyway planed to use it on my Flat Screen (No VGA), so i opened it and tried to desolder the cables.
Now i think that i destroyed the Connection between the mx chip and the board (i think its pin 23 /24)

As far as i see it the chip is the rarest thing of this cable and it should be fine.

Now my questions:

1.Can i Use any Wii-Component Cable to check the functionality? (cutting away the end part + solder 3 wire and Ground to the board)
-> Is it possible to take the 2 left Pins (Wii-Component-Cables got 5 Pins) to get sound out of the analogouput?
2. Does anyone have laying around the Cable or Board without the mx Chip? (I would buy it!)

3. My absolut favorit would be to get a MEGA3 without the MX Chip !!! :D :D

Hope you understand my Problems / Questions and my not really good english

Thx already

OUCH! What did you or the previous owner do to that poor thing?

Still looks salvageable though.

Step away from that soldering iron before you kill again. :o

It can probably be brought back to life, but will require a very delicate touch. Either brush up on soldering skills before attempting a repair or have someone with SMD experience do it.

Well to be honest it´s a very terrible work but it was actually a mix of a bad soldering iron (The iron i normally don´t work anymore) and a very frustrating day :/

Actually i´m able to solder/desolder things like smd LEDs. :/

Do you think it´s fixable even if the pins don´t connect to the board?

wire install the pins maybe?
I would do so many checks for continuity and shorts on that, that thing.. so many checks.

I recently saw this Graphik:
http://www.gc-forever.com/wiki/index.ph ... =MXB012355
Does this mean the pins don´t have to be connected to the board?

With the board in that condition it will be very difficult to provide troubleshooting assistance..
Might be better off sending it to someone who might be able to clean up and repair...

Well if there is someone who would do that (For some Money ofc)

Would you maybe try to fix it Mega? if i send it to you? ofc i would pay for it.

Btw i just realized that i got a second, already modded cable but i don´t get wich mod it is. Quite similar to the VGA-Mod but the V- and H-Sync Pins are connected to just 1 wire and it got an Scartoutput.

The guy i bought this from said it was made by a professional modding side some years ago and it should create the best graphic for PAL and NTSC Oo.
i just wonder because as far as i see it the quality aint better then my RGB-Cable.

Looks like a RGB cable for NTSC GameCubes.

Is it just me or is that a resistor in the location of C2? :?

Looks like someone lost the capacitor and replaced it with a resistor

The second video cable may come in handy for checking continuity of the circuit on the messed up board. Did you try to remove the MX chip from the board; it looks like it because the chip is at an angle? One trick I use to remove SMDs is to drop a large blob of solder across all the pins on each side, then quickly heat up both sides and slide the chip off of the board. However, this method takes some practice to get right. It is easy to lift the circuit traces if you are not careful.

And yes, it does look like there's a resistor in place of a capacitor for C2.

dont try the solder blob removal method on this PCB, the traces are too thin to handle the amount of heat

Well it was broke when bought it and i even made it worse so... You can´t make it worse because its not working.. It would be great if someone with more experiance then myself would try to fix it. else i have to try it myself.

I wont try to get the chip off yet. But if i do i should use hot air i guess

good eye....i checked out the component...it was a 75ohm resistor....

@Crosz
you must not really give a shit if this thing ever works....
i received the package today....or maybe i should say i received the "letter"
sending this pcb in a paper letter envelope is not the safest method to ship an item...especially this item...
one of the filters FIL1 was torn off in shipping....and the trace was torn off also...

since there is a missing cap, i can easily relocate C4 over to C2....might not even need to relocate but ill do it anyways...
C4 is only used to provide switching signal for NTSC-J TVs...

(i hate you right now)

I'm glad you took this job on mega.

I was tempted for a little while to take it on for some strange reason. Don't know what I must of been thinking, must of been for the challenge or something or I just hate myself :|

It was the resistor at C2 that made me hold back. It made me wonder if there might be other components missing or damaged also and I didn't fancy the hassle of ordering small quantities of SMD components.

@Crosz You're a lucky guy. I'm sure not many people would go out of their way to tackle this one, your component cable or what was left of it is in good hands.

Oh man, im sorry.. it wasn´t ment to be a pain for you :(
But know something: I´m not expecting anything. If you can fix it: AWESOME! if not it´s sad but defently not your fault..

I didn´t thought that shipping in a letter could damage a pcb but i´m still lerning.

And ofcourse if you need extra components i´ll pay for it!

ive cleaned up the board a lot but there is board damage at R1, R2 and FIL1
while i am getting continuity of all traces now, there is still some issue since video is not working yet...
im not sure if ill get this work...

did you by any chance attempt to plug this in and power it on while it was in its previous condition???
if so, that may have fried something...

You wouldn't think it was the same board 8-)

Maybe you could reflow those pins at the top, the joints look dry.

Well i´v tried it one time but it didn´t worked for my monitor. So i opend it, saw that it was in quite bad condition and made it even worse myself :(
So i "powerd it on" i guess.
