not really cause the paint I used was a universal for plastic or metal it bonded just fine. about the only thing I did was go over the top case section lightly with cloth I have sprayed with non-chlorinated bake cleaner (is practically pure acetone). It lifted a little of the silver on there but not much and only reason I did it was my nephew got a hold of it with sticky and greasy hands.

About the only mistake I made with it is that even though I left it sit for 30-40 hours to dry, And it felt dry and hard it was still a little soft on the top lid and control port plate. So there are some fine scuffs and finger impressions you can see if you look close enough in good lighting. Also because I though it was dry enough I had but the GBA player on. When I needed to take it off a few days later some of the copper paint adhered to the GBA and pealed off the bottom of the cube. So even though it say it's dry in 24 hours and cured in 48 I find it actually need 3-4 days total to dry properly.

Also it has a good gloss to it on it's own, But if you use a little carnauba wax based car polish you get the shine mine has. Just be careful cause I about dropped mine a few time doing a second and 3rd coat of wax after the first couse it makes it slick.

Other then the few paint mishaps it turned out better then I thought and probably is a lot better then the mirror chrome I was thinking of trying to do. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it, My local RC shop didn't carry the special mirror chrome paint I was after with out special order. So my next thought initially was to go with the Special Edition Cartridge theme Nintendo does with gold but I didn't care for a lot of the gold paints and I wanted some thing unique that not too many people could of done. In came the hammered finish but again didn't like the look of the Gold version so as I was looking on rust-o-leums site I found the copper and black and here we are.

If you end up doing the LED per controller port mod, I'd like to know how you did it, especially if they light up as you plug the controller in ;)

yea I'm debating between a single LED with a light bar per port to distribute the light across all the dots, Or using mini LEDs with a 1.5-2mm tip for each dot. as for a switch I'll ether use a micro momentary like you would find in a CD player or use one of the existing ground fingers in the controller port.

The left one is a DOL-001 with a Xeno 2.0, the black one in the middle is a DOL-001 too, but with a Viper GC, the one on the right is a DOL-101 with nothing special :P
All three are PAL consoles. Then you see a "SNES Controller to GCN"-Adaptor (i've got two of these, ordered at retroUSB.com) which is really nice for playing SNES games.

I noticed you have a Wii Classic Controller hooked up to the Cube in the middle how did you get it to work. Last to my knowledge they didn't work on a Cube or am I wrong on that cause I would love to get one or possibly a Pro version for my games and emulators.

Yo it's not really a Wii Classic Controller, it just looks like it ;-) It's a cheap Gamecube Controller in Wii-classic-controller-design which I got over eBay from a seller from Hongkong. It costs less then 5 euros.

No offense but when you look at the last picture can you just hear the tortured soul of a Gamecube begging to be put out of it's misery.

Can anyone recommend a good source in the US for replacement cases?

Also, heh, I'm looking for a replacement Dreamcast case and am having no luck whatsoever. Does anyone still have a source for these?

My poor old gamecube, taken down off the shelf after finding this forum and renewing my interest.

I might finally getting round to scratching the itch of open sourcing the XenoGC code.

would be awaysome to get a open source modchip for the cube. in the past i have also tried to read out the xeno gc but the fusebits were set so i stopped doing this. got everytime a bad hex file.
