Hello from Florida

Hello all,

Finally got everything I need to finally enjoy GB/GBA games on my PVM at 240p (I think).

My current set up:
PAL GameCube w/ GBA Player and SCART cable
PVM-20m2mdu
Datel SD Media Launcher/Disc (PAL version)
Latest .Swiss and GBI on a 1gb Transcend Flash Card

I haven't figured out how to fully utilize the GBI, but I have been using gbisr-xrgb.dol and the picture looks amazing.

Any recommendations or links to the proper resources to get me on the right path towards 240p gaming is much appreciated. I play casually for the most part, but there are a few games I'd like to speedrun so I want to make sure those runs qualify.

Thanks to everyone involved in making this possible.

If I remember correctly the pal version has a lower video quality. I would recommend NTSC-U or J for starters

Do you ever post anything that isn't completely wrong?
PAL units have built-in RGB output, which he's using. Though it can't do 480p, it's about as good as the component cables.

I figured at 240p an NTSC console would look pretty good even with s-video (my PVM doesn't support 480p unfortunately, so component is not an option), but I went the PAL route for the Euroscart cable I purchased a while back. Here's a video I uploaded last night of the picture quality using the gbisr-xrb.dol

Thanks, though I'm already aware of the benefits of 240p over 480i, which is why I have a PAL system connected via RGB to get the most out of GBI and Swiss.

". . . this will allow 240p on all outputs, so PAL users can enjoy excellent quality output via RGB cables and NTSC users still get a great quality 240p image via S-Video" - RetroRGB.com

I'm very happy with the picture I have now so I'll probably continue using the gbisr-xrb.dol preset for outputting to a Framemeister.

The concern I had was the downscaling but you seemed to cover your bases quite nicely.
Good luck on your speed runs.
What games are you planning to do?

Thanks, I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm a big fan of running shorter Game Boy games like Kirby's Dreamland and Super Mario Land 2, but I'm also learning Pokemon Red and Leafgreen at the moment.
