it's basically just a plug and play retro remake with built in atari games.

marcus9199, it looks like it detected your HDD correctly, and the number of sectors/bytes I think, what size HDD were you trying?

If it's actually done it, it means that it was able to get a command packet across the data lines and one back, maybe something else was wrong, such as the format of the HDD or data lines too long?

P.S. Just noticed Quick Reply was missing from here, enabled it.

I was I little bit worried about the cable length. So I figured I would try the ide route just to start from ground zero. I have the cable hooked up now. Just need power and I'll be ready to try again.

Well I got another snag. I used an 80 pin ide so I just used the odd number cables since even are ground. Bad thing is I may have that backwards because the Dreamcast did nothing. But I'm not giving up I'll try again tomorrow. At least by the time I make this work maybe I can tell everybody what not to do.

Okay I've got back to the point of it trying to read through the sata adapter, but the ide HDD I have is apparently dead so I'm going to hit some thrift stores tomorrow in search of an ide drive. At least now I think my pin out is correct.

Okay so I think I may have figured out some of my problems. Reading through some of the Russian translated comments it seems as though you need a modified bios for this to work. Luckily I have a flashable bios chip coming in the mail. So once it's installed I will try again.

I tried both ICQ and mail.
I only got automatic answer from ICQ (still in beta test, or something like that).

that's what I was getting until one day he asked me where I am located and gave me payment info... from what I gather from other people he sells devices as he builds them and he spends most of his time building...
I left webicq running on my "server" pc running 24/7 thus ensuring I am available whenever he tried to contact me, it worked out for me ;)

Sorry for no updates on this. I just got frustrated and gave up after starting from scratch 5 times and not getting any signs of life. Not saying it doesn't work just saying its apparently something lost in translation from the Russian websites I was trying to work from. hopefully someone with more skill than me will do a tutorial in English for us. As for now I was lucky enough to get one of the GDEMUs and it works great. Others complain about lack of menu software but it hasn't bothered my load times are much better and has worked with every game I have tried.

try the german site i postet above you.
Just soldering an IDE cable to the DC-Board.
and on dc-swat you can find an englisch description of that!

But you Need a solution to boot Dreamschell...
Maybe from the Serial USB Mod or from GD-Rom or patching BIOS to boot Dreamschell from HDD - but therefore someone with programming skills is needed! ;-)

Same here - - I managed to get in touch with him and order one as well. He only take Western Union, though, so that was its own step to accomplish.

It's ordered and on its way though. Very exciting. Looks like it will be a great device.
