Side port on the AV Famicom top loader?

Post by siphoned » Wed Jun 26, 2013 4:21 pm

Nintendo made a top loader famicom just like the nes top loader. The famicom top loader (AV Famicom) uses the nes controller ports for some reason and not the famicom controller ports, However it does have ONE famicom port on the side of the unit. Does anyone know if that port is for player one controllers or is it a player 2 port so you can use famicom peripherals? I read that the only zapper gun that works on the AV Famicom is a true 15 pin famicom zapper, that would make me think it can work as a player 2 port. Does anyone own one of these?

I have this backwards. The port on the side of the AV Famicom (and on the front of the original Famicom) is some type of expansion port just for add ons. The controller ports are completely separate on the famicom. They seem to just run directly into the back of the unit? Looks like I will have to find a cheap one to buy, check it out first hand.
