I also have one. Really awesome load times and gameplay. I haven't had any complaints with mine. There are only 2-3 games that need a work-around to get them to work properly.

I hear it's crap, go with a 64drive instead ;)

supposedly the newer firmware version will allow better compatibility and performance compared to previous...
however, look at the difference in build quality between everdrive64 vs 64drive...

note: i still have not bought either...
but i am posting my observation since i also wondered about the same product versus other options...

i was very close to purchasing the everdrive64 two years ago since back then it was half the price of of the 64drive.
then i looked at the everdrive64 pcb itself,,,pics posted all over assemblers and random other sites...
when i looked at the PCB....DAMN!!!! i was willing to pay double the price for a 64drive instead...
so now that both products are very similar in price to each other, take a look at both and see which you feel more comfortable purchasing...

I looked on the 64drive before I got the ED64 v2 , but did not see any real advantage... with the ED64 you just play your roms in 2-3 seconds, sure there are a 5-6 that needs patching but that's how it goes with flashcards... I am pretty sure the same applies to the 64drive but the 64drive is still 179$ whereas the ED64 is 99$ ... quite a difference

ps. notice the v2 in the ED64 case, it vastly improved loading times over v1 IIRC (64drive easily the best choice over v1)

I ended up going for the 64 drive but my order took over 6 months, in the end all I got was your order slip through the cracks, sorry...
After that when I was after support I had to resort to asking other people instead - like emu_kidid and post on retro forums. I did get an answer but it was a few weeks late. I understand people get busy but it only required one sentence worth of explanation, or this info could have been added to the manual, or faq.

On the bright side 64 drive is a great device and when you think about what you are getting here it makes so much sense to get one :)

Don't know enough about the everdrive but seems to me 64d is made of higher quality components, which reflects the higher price :/

99$ is right for the barebones pcb with no chip and no ports
but if you pay to have those installed as they would already be installed on a 64drive, then the everdrive comes out to about 150$

how many everdrive64 firmware releases and pcb versions have been created compared to 64drive?
which one offered almost 99% support from initial release vs multiple months/years of updates just to get it where it is now?

I forgot to add, I regret buying the PAL CIC, as I had to desolder it and spend some money on a donor cart to install the 7105 so I could play unmodified Tooie, DK 64, and Jet Force Gemini games.

Not anyone needs a usb port , it's only for dev reasons. And you can just add it later with a usb port and a MAX chip that you get from eBay easily.
It is irrelevant how many updates it took the ED64 to be what it is, the man is talking about getting one NOW , not 2 years ago.
Not to mention that AFAIR when the ED64v1 was released the only other available cart was the neoflash one, the 64drive was in design/beta/closed stage or something. And the v2 ED64 added nothing to compatibility , it only added way faster rom loading.
You can use the CIC/shell from a 1$ game, if you can't do it yourself then like with all things in life you gotta pay

So if you get the ED64 with case/cic it costs you a total of 134$ with worldwide shipping. Add the USB port for dev reasons and you are at 149$.
The 64drive costs 205$ for US people or 213$ for the rest of the world.
The price is nowhere near unless a ~60$ difference means nothing to a person.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the 64drive , it's great and awesome but still remains expensive compared to the ED64 while offering the same thing to the end user. (if you know something different please correct me)
And I don't go for the cheapest cart either, I bought a Mega-Everdrive and a SD2SNES but these two were clearly a superior design, something that can't be said to justify the +60$ the 64drive demands.

@AC_Orange
it is not recommended to use a 7105 CIC, supposedly it breaks compatibility with other games... it's been some time now but these games play just fine on the ED64 , you don't need any patched versions anymore. Krikzz released an update to the OS that takes care of them, basically "cracking" them on the fly when they get copied on SDRAM as far as I understood

Do you know which games in particular?

^ nope, not really... there are posts on the Everdrive forum but I did not really payed attention to them tbh as I have the "recommended" CIC installed. If you didn't find any problems yet then maybe it's been fixed because the OS now handles stuff differently... or if you noticed any weirdness then most likely the CIC is the problem.
Krikzz responded to people's posts about CIC and told them to use 6102 or 7101 most likely because the OS is setup to use these revisions and "emulate" all the rest. You can dig here if you like: http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php

I have a 64drive, and I love it. When the Everdrive first came out, the 64drive was superior compatibility wise. However, now, both are pretty on par with each other, last I checked. Only noticeable advantage to the Everdrive is that it has support for Tooie while the 64drive still does not (unless that pre-patched version works, but I haven't tested it myself). My 64drive's primary use, aside from playing N64 games, is dumping my Gameboy Camera saves.

I don't have an Everdrive, nor do I plan to purchase one, so I can't really comment on how well it works. But, judging from what I've seen around the internet, it works quite well.

Also, iirc, there's a big update coming for the 64Drive. Where I read that, I can't really remember (may have been on BenHeck).

I'm also considering buying an everdrive64 v2. I just love the name "everdrive" . I'm also planning to get a flash cart for my SNES, but I guess I will go for a SD2SNES there, so atleast I have to buy the N64 version of the everdrive.

There is also a cheap rip off of the everdrive 64 v1 called ED64plus, but I wouldn't use that :?

Everdrive seems good for the price. I never knew about these, which is a shame seeing as I sold my N64 console several years ago. I'll definately recommend it to some palls, but for me its still N64 emulation all the way
