Hi! My Super Smash Bros (N64) give me save problems, it dont keep the save after power off, i've tried to trade the battery but not work, i've test the battery in my Zelda OoT and works, so the problem is not with the baterry,

Can someone help me? i've tried i lot of thing, include trade the resistors/capacitors (i don't know what is, just tried to use another from f-zero but don't work too.)

Some considerations:
1 - the solder points are very ugly because...i've done the first install of battery beautiful and very clean, after this wont work i've tried to do other parts aaaaand have not alchool around to clean... but I guarantee, there is no bridge pins or colder solder

2 - about this red wire... well, after remove and put some parts to test, i've messed up some solder point, so i've remade the trace with this wire and it come back alive...

3 - i think that is not a install problems because before i trade the original battery, i've tested this and it give me the correct value, 3v, the battery works! but the cartrige begin to lose saves with this battery... i really don't know what happens...

thanks for help!!

Super Smash Bros is a 16KBit EEPROM game, I would check all connections from the narrow IC and the 8 pin IC all the way to the edge connectors they're meant to go to (trace these and check with a multimeter).

It looks like pin 5 on the edge connector might have a corroded trace, check that too.

edit: Hi emu_kidid, thanks for reply!
Well, i've tested, all works, but still cant save.. i'v removed this 8 pins ic of F-zero and put on Smash, still don't save so i trade again... i give up XD
thanks emu!

ugh, it's SRAM, my mistake, it's been a while. Just swap the ROM to another cheaper equivalent board like Ken Griffey Jr.

Hi emu, i think the rom is the little ic of the board right? with 8 pins? if yes i've tried it with the rom from F-Zero and not works, so i decide to buy another...

thanks for tried to help me emu!!! thanks for the reply!!

Don't heat it for too long, you might damage it.
