Hey, I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times...
Back when I made my setup there seemed to be no way to boot directly to swiss or any other .dol file in a Xeno modded Gamecube without booting to a disc first.
Lately my disc drive has started to fail more and more (having to reset multiple times before I can successfully boot anything), so I was wondering if there is a way today to boot directly to homebrew without a working disc drive?
Specifically, I would love to be able to boot directly to "Game Boy Interface", since that's the only thing I use my Gamecube for nowdays...
Also, if it's not possible with Xeno but there are other mods or accesories that would make it possible, what would that be?
Thanks for any leads! Even a simple "no it's still impossible" would be enough.
Still impossible to boot to SD with Xeno?
Re: Still impossible to boot to SD with Xeno?
You might be better off booting a real disc of an exploitable game and loading GBI from memory card if your GC is having trouble reading DVD-R.spacorn wrote:Hey, I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times...

There are methods to boot directly, some of which are outdated and hard to come across such as Qoob/Viper, and there are other newer methods being developed like drive replacements.
Re: Still impossible to boot to SD with Xeno?
Thanks for your answer!
I see. So I suppose an easy "load homebrew from memory card on boot" solution like the ones available on PS2 is out of the question at the moment...
Thanks for directing me to the exploitable games method. Since I got my GCN with Xeno I never tried those. I suppose using a real GC disc it's the best I can do at the moment to spare my laser some strain.
About those "newer methods being developed", are they being developed on this community or somewhere else? Could you please point me to them so I can better keep track of any future developments?

You'll likely hear about them here, nothing public yet.spacorn wrote: About those "newer methods being developed", are they being developed on this community or somewhere else? Could you please point me to them so I can better keep track of any future developments?
Re: Still impossible to boot to SD with Xeno?
Wasp and megadrive replaces the drive if that's what you're getting at.
Re: Still impossible to boot to SD with Xeno?
Both obsolete/hard to find.boredomca wrote:Wasp and megadrive replaces the drive if that's what you're getting at.

theres 2 options:
- SWISS 0.4 (FAT32 support) - its a SD Loader, it supports SD Card in FAT32... its the best option because you can use a big size sd card (example sd card 16gb in FAT32).
- SDLOAD (FAT16 support only) - its another SD Loader, but this loader will read FAT16 SD cards only... its a limitation. FAT16 will support a maximum 2gb partition.
2gb size is the max size of a FAT16 partition on SD card, not good.
STEPS
1-A) SWISS 0.4 (FAT32 support)
download swiss_r451.7z at this link https://github.com/emukidid/swiss-gc/re ... ss_r451.7z
uncompress swiss_r451.7z, inside "ISO" subdirectory, theres an ISO named "swiss_r451(ntsc-u).iso"
with SWISS 0.4, you can use a SD card of any size (1gb, 2gb, 4gb, 8gb, 16gb, 32gb....), format in FAT32
1-B) SDLOAD (FAT16 support only) - download sdload_r2.zip at this link http://gc-forever.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=401
if u choose SDLOAD (FAT16), u need a sd card of 2gb or 1gb, and format it in FAT16.
2) burn a mini-dvd with the iso content of loader u choose .... i use RIDATA mini-dvds (RIDATA = manufacture)
i recommend you to burn the mini dvd using ImgBurn software (http://www.imgburn.com)
3) insert the sd loader minidvd and insert the sd card with the sd adapter.... its done
just save emulators and roms in the sd card...
download Snes9xGX emulator to play snes roms -> https://github.com/dborth/snes9xgx/releases
to play Snes9xGX download "Snes9x.GX.4.3.2.-.GameCube.zip" (version 4.3.2 - lastest version of this emulator to game cube)
download Genesis Plus GX emulator to play mega drive / master system / game gear roms -> https://bitbucket.org/eke/genesis-plus-gx/downloads/
to play Genesis Plus GX emulator, download "genplus-gx-1.7.4.7z" (version 1.7.4 - lastest version of this emulator to game cube)
download FCE Ultra GX (fceugx) to play nes roms -> https://github.com/dborth/fceugx/releases
to play FCE Ultra GX, download the file FCE.Ultra.GX.3.3.4.-.GameCube.zip (version 3.3.4 - lastest version of this emulator to game cube)
enjoy
Re: Still impossible to boot to SD with Xeno?
I have tried a couple of times by following guidelines in Google but didn't work. This post helped me a lot. cool staffmarc-br wrote: ↑Thu Jul 12, 2018 1:18 pmi have a gamecube with Xeno, and i play with sdload or swiss 0.4.spacorn wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2017 5:44 pmHey, I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times...
