No chao editor for sonic adventure 2 battle/sadx for gc?

:idea: Ok.... so I noticed the dreamcast had chao editor(s) for sa2/sa1 and the chao editor for sadx ( pc ) by fusion..... :? so why not one for the gc versions :?:
Is this possible as a gc/wii homebrew app? :P

what kind of editor do you actualy mean?
maybe if there comes a memory card feature for swiss we could make a program to edit the chao's on pc side and put it back on memory card.
I will take a look at my chao saves, and see where the chao's are stored.

mikog: I mean something like fusion's sadx pc chao editor, you know...... like editing animal abilities, choosing what lessons they've learned and etc.

It just hasn't been made yet. you need a way to extract the chao data from the save file. from there you need a tool to edit it and repack it into the save file.

Very true. It's been ages since I've even looked at that particular game. I'll have to see if I have one of my opld chao save on a mem card somewhere and take a look. BTW are there any tools currently to extract files from a game save or is this something that has to be done manually?

^I know.... :) that's why I made this post..... if someone makes a way to edit chao on sadx/sa2b gc, it will be (almost) just like the sega dreamcast (vmu) chao editor(s)!

Haven't had anytime to look at this yet. how did you find this info you posted above? just by looking at the save with a hex editor or something?

You mean my info? I pasted there stats from running sonic adventure 2 battle,
so some one with good hex editing skills could find the locations of stats and levels,
so some programmer can make a program for it.

btw,
some also needs to make a "make chao save valid" code, because it's protected.

I believe no one with the skills is interested in doing this - there are more interesting things to do like Xeno, GameCube_portable, swiss... :P

Truth be told he's right. there really isn't a need either as stats can be easily edited with Action Replay codes or other means of cheating on the system.

Well.... there's a a problem with editing stats with ar: when a chao with maxed out (9999) flying goes into a fly race, they will keep flying and be forever stuck! same goes with a maxed out (9999) power chao in a race with trees. ( it will be stuck shaking the tree. ) unless you quit the race.....

That's weird, I saw a video on youtube, that he had chao's racing with 65535 stats and nothing was wrong with shaking the trees.
And what are you using? A real disc or a backup? A modchip? swiss/gcos(w/AR)/etc. and wich AR version and gc version (type/drive/IPL/maybe ECID (for emu_kidid))

It's very simple to edit the values of those codes. whats a value you want for flying for chao one? all you need is GCNcrypt to decrypt the codes. then a basic understanding of how the codes works. there are many different code types indicated by the first couple digits of the code. Generally something like this will either be an ASM add comand or a ram struct write. if it's a struct write you simply need to change the last couple of digits of the code to a lower value. If it's an ASM type hack then it's a little more complicated but it's all a lot easier than extrating the data tables from a save file editing them and repacking the save with the edited data and then getting it back on the card......

Well the code is pretty easy to decifer (or something like that)
The First line is just the master Identifier, the second line is the level code (63 = 99)
and the third one is the stat code (270F = 9999)
I don't see what's troublesome on that :p

My god I can't believe I missed that lol. that's what I get for trying to think before I've even eaten in the morning.

Either way just try smaller values for the last four digits of the third line. and then encrypt the code.

do 3266, that's the chao's absolute max stat (if all stats are S), if you are not hacking.

im using the real game on wii with a ar save that was downloaded of gamefaqs and put to a gc memcard with gcmm.
