[Problem} Wiikey Fusion Bad Flash

Post by lavatar » Wed May 28, 2014 6:38 am

Hello,

i have the problem that my Wiikey Fusion is bad flashed.

Explanation:
- I updated a wiikey fusion from 1.4 to 1.5
- Downloaded Swissflash.gcm and transfer it as iso with wbfs manager to SD Card
- Booting the Swissflash.iso on the cube
- Swiss was not capable to show me the Files on the sd card i switch to a fat sd card an now it works
- i load from that sd card swiss flash an execute swiss(pal).fzn => it show me a hint, it was something like "bootloader is missing", but it flashed succesfully
- now i could load with gamecube eject in the disc menu swiss directly
- i load swiss again and execute swiss flash => swiss_r214_10FW: it shows me again a hint with something like "bootloader is missing" but flashed successfully
- after that i can not load swiss in the disc menu with a gamecube eject

The Modchip at self is blinking blue like normal. In the disk menu it show that he try to read a disc.
Without a sd card in the slot the redlight shines.

I try to use the recovery image on the sd card with dd.exe but nothing happend.

Can anyone help me??

PS: Sorry for my bad english

you need two files in the same directory
swiss.fzn
swiss.fzn.fw

also, the first time you try to flash to allow autoboot the files have to be on SD Gecko for the firmware to properly update onto the WKF/WASP
do you have any other method to boot swiss? qoob, viper, anything??
as long as you can get back into swiss using any method, you can reflash the chip

when you flash the chip, you need an SD card in the modchip cardslot so swiss can detect the WKF/WASP properly, but you will be flashing the files directly from SD Gecko..

I had
"swiss.fzn
swiss.fzn.fw"
in the same directory, but i flashed with the wiikey fusion sd slot!

I have no other Modchip and no gecko.

As i wrote, i can´t boot to swiss or the linux os anymore with gamecube eject.

My only hope is to get the recovery iso to work from the sd card, but the disc channel in the cube didn´t recognize anything.

your only chance is to correctly write the recovery file onto SD...
keep trying..

When the iso is properly written onto SD, it will automatically boot into recovery

Thx for youre help it worked!
I make the mistake that i used parition1 instead of partition0

As a little hint: On the gamecube the recovery doesnt boot automatically, it appears in the disc channel!
It is the same like the eject button press without to press it.... ;-)

for me, on gamecube it has always booted automatically....
maybe that depends on the SD card type...sounds like another autoboot vs autoload issue

Has anyone cracked the autoboot code? I am missing out on my autoload and don't want to buy another sd card for the same issues (mine was expensive too).

A little Question:
Is it ok to connect the Pin 29 and 31 on the modchip side?
Because this is the only way to activate the linux on my gamecube!

I hope that will not cause any damage on the modchip?!?

It is on the chip side that you must connect them.

I try to ground pin 29 on the gamecube side but the eject will not recognized!
I figured out that connecting Pin 29 and Pin 31 one on the FPC Adapter works best

http://www.gc-forever.com/wiki/index.ph ... nmatch.jpg

From the Schematics 31 Pin is "Unknown Pin(NC)"

That's what I said. Connect them to the chip.

why do you need pin WKF 31?
there is no reason to use this unless you have a wii dvd drive on a GC
...other than that, there is no reason to connect pin31 and will make no difference in functionality.

Status Update:

I bought Wiikey Fusion SD Adapter and flashed the wiikey fusion like in many tutorials suggested.
The Autoboot worked only 2 times of many testing sessions.
My final Conclusion is that the Wiikey Fusion has a very bad compatibility with sd cards.

For Example if i use a transcend 8 gig sd card for the wiikey and put mit sandisk 64 gig in the sd gecko and try to load a game it crashs with a ingame error! But if is use a nokia 2 gig sd card it works!

I read on a forum that one guy use 3 different sd cards and only one could achieve autoboot!

Just to be sure. Do you actually put the card with the game in the WKF ? And the "compatibility" problem is that the WKF can only autoload certain SD cards, ie you have to go in the disc menu of the Cube, which is not really a problem.

I put a sd card (fat32) with random files in the wkf and load games from the sd gecko!
When i try to load it from the wkf it shows a error screen with debugging informations.

Is there a list which sd cards work with autoload?

No there isn't. Identical cards can behave differently with autoboot vs autoload. A card that cant autoboot will aoutoload.

I highly recommend you rewire / resolder...
These issues can be expected from wiring issues and you do not need pin 31 so that raises questions about your connectivity...
