A VGC file is a bios file, not the same as a dol.
I know I'm aware of this, but I thought some users are still on bios files lower than 2.0

Next problem: swiss now starts from flash about 1 in 5 times.
4 out of 5, I get a green screen.

The green screen appears right after selecting the swiss dol.

I sometimes also get the green screen with no memory card or gecko connected, so it is not related to the SD card.

I have the impression that it is timing related. When I navigate to quickly through the cobra menu, there is more chance of having the green screen.

No problems here with swiss on viper extreme...

Try the attached dol out. It's the r52 compressed with dollz3, viper flag enabled.

okay after talking to infact today i got a tiny bit of motivation to try it again...still no success though.

i tried 2 different flat cables now.
adapter connect to flat cable and plugged into exi port. doesn't boot when USB is not connected.
booting with usb connected switches the cobra bios to USB MODE as soon as i click on connect in the cobra manager. after selecting the file (which is working for infact) i get the same (timeout?) error as always.

i'm so f***ing sick of this modchip :/ i want a working qoob pro! loading swiss via all these softmod techniques is a pain in the ass. i just want it on my modchip, select it and boot it...urgh.

just to clear this one thing: flat cable - blue side up? (yes i'm looking into 100% idiot errors now)

At first my Viper Extreme + Usb Adapter worked fine, then i got the same problems as liquitt.
Now it is working again. :D

yep, blue side up.

But as we talked about, the flatcable is only used for bios programming (with switch 2 on).
The cobra bios <-> cobra manager connection only uses serial communication and works without the flatcable (i tried).
I think your and my soldering joints are good, otherwise the chip would not work at all (i tried).

So it is all about this usb board.
I got one driver related issue (could use only one usb port, the one i installed the driver for), which i bypassed with a new driver.
Also apparently cobra manager has a bug, which won't allow you adding any dol. It just says "unexpected error" then.
It occurs, when i tried to add a dol, which is bigger than the free space or when the ffs(flash file system) is fragmented.
In the first case restarting the cube and cobra manager helps, in the second i had to format the ffs.

The only thing a have not extensively tested, is the connection between the usb board and the serial port.
I will try to add solder to the board to get a better connection, when i run into the issues again.

now i know what i forgot yesterday. the ffs might be fragmented, from all the testing i have done.
just use "erase" in the cobra manager formats it, right?

i will have to try that. and disconnect the flat cable of course

There should be a format button, and when you click it you will be prompted with something like this: Formatting the flash memory will erase everything except the bios.
I think it is a yes or no prompt, not completely sure though.

I think you missunderstood me or mistyped format (because there stands erase in your post).

I can't get it working too. I executed:

Code: Select all

dollz3 swiss.dol swiss-vgc.dol -v -m
CobraPlugin swiss-vgc.dol plugin.cbp "Swiss v0.1 r52"
copy /b cobra21.vgc+plugin.cbp swobra.vgc
Then flashed it with ViperUSBFlasher but when I start the plugin it hangs at "running dol file..:" :(
Can someone upload his complete vgc file with cobra2.1 + swiss please?

I don't think anyone has a running Swiss in Viper flash at the moment.
I have SDload in the Viper flash and then load Swiss from the SD card. Works but quite a long process before you get to run a game.
Also SDload does not support SDHC so I'm stuck with 1 or 2 games max on the SD card.
