Great codes Ralf!

Would it also be possible for you to create a code that changes the volume of fanfares?

Also I don't understand how to change this:
Background Music Volume Modifier [Ralf]
043BA590 xxxxxxxx

xxxxxxxx = Volume (IEEE-754 SP Floating-Point Number, Default: 3F800000 = 1.0)
Sadly I don't know anything about hacking/coding so I also don't know how to get another value for this "IEEE-754 SP Floating-Point Number" .. Whatever this is ..

Do you know a good tutorial about this whole hacking thing (for total noobs)?

if you're a bit uncommon with floating point values in hexadecimal you can use following to calculate them on your own: http://www.h-schmidt.net/FloatConverter/IEEE754.html

enter any decimal value and convert it. replace XXXXXXXX with the 8 digits hex value you've got

^^ Well actually I'm uncommon with everything that's related to hacking ..

I don't really know what to enter to this converter :/

So, does "Default: 3F800000 = 1.0" mean normal volume?

Do you know some good tutorials (just basics about hacking)

Hi Ranz92,

I don't think it is possible to make a code that changes the volume of a single sound effect. But on the other hand, making a global sound effect volume modifier should be pretty easy.

The volume of the MKDD background music depends on three separate factors:

1. SND master volume (Options, 0.0 .. 1.0 = 0% .. 100%)
2. BGM master volume (1.0 = 100%)
3. BGM custom volume (0.0 .. 1.0 .. ?.? = 0% .. 100% .. ???%)

The BGM custom volume can have different values for the same audio file at different places. For example, the custom volume of the course background music is set to 100% during a race and 30% at the course pause menu. The 'Background Music Volume Modifier' adjusts only the BGM master volume, and the 'Normalized Background Music Volume Modifier' additionally disables all custom volumes (set to 100%, fixed).

Here are some IEEE-754 SP Floating-Point Numbers and the corresponding BGM volumes:

00000000 = 0.00 (Volume: 0%)
3DCCCCCD = 0.10 (Volume: 10%)
3E800000 = 0.25 (Volume: 25%)
3F000000 = 0.50 (Volume: 50%)
3F400000 = 0.75 (Volume: 75%)
3F800000 = 1.00 (Volume: 100%)
3FC00000 = 1.50 (Volume: 150%)
40000000 = 2.00 (Volume: 200%)

More info about IEEE-754 Floating-Point Numbers can be found here:

if you type 1.0 into the converter it will give you 3f800000 as result.
2.0 = 40000000, 3.0 = 40800000, 0.5 = 3f000000

The music's default volume is usually set at 3f800000 (1.0). So using 40000000 instead would double the volume. 00000000 would turn off the music.

Well, maybe this will help:
dec - hex
0 = 00000000
0.1 = 3DCCCCCD
0.2 = 3E4CCCCD
0.5 = 3F000000
0.75 = 3F400000
1.0 = 3F800000
1.25 = 3FA00000
1.50 = 3FC00000
2.0 = 40000000
3.0 = 40400000
4.0 = 40800000
5.0 = 40A00000
8.0 = 41000000
10 = 41200000
16 = 41800000
32 = 42000000
128 = 43000000
512 = 44000000
1024 = 45000000
inf = 7F800000

-0 = 80000000
-0.1 = BDCCCCCD
-0.2 = BE4CCCCD
-0.5 = BF000000
-0.75 = BF400000
-1.0 = BF800000
-1.25 = BFA00000
-1.50 = BFC00000
-2.0 = C0000000
-3.0 = C0400000
-4.0 = C0800000
-5.0 = C0A00000
-8.0 = C1000000
-10 = C1200000
-16 = C1800000
-32 = C2000000
-128 = C3000000
-512 = C4000000
-1024 = C5000000

Ah got it! :)

But again would it be possible to low down the volume of the fanfare, starman music ect. also by using a code?

I'm asking because I'm playing MKDD on Dolphin. Dolphin still has sound issues with this game (volume of bg-music is too low and fanfares are far too loud)

@Ranz92: FYI, the fanfare seems to be a SYS2 sound effect.

Sadly these codes don't semm to work properly ..
The Sys2 does low down the fanfares a bit but it also totally kills off some soundeffects
Starman- and Chain Chomb music are still far too loud :(

As I explained before, it's not possible to adjust the volume of a single sound effect without affecting other sound effects.

I have another question:

Enabling the hacks "Purely Random Items", "Fast Opponent Drivers" and "Super Turbo" are making this game a total blast!

However there are some problems coming up with the Super Turbo hack and I'd like to know if they are solvable:

Nr.1) If you drive with Super Turbo hack you won't make it over certain ramps. This causes not being able to clear Waluigi Stadium for example. A solution could be a levitate hack (There is a levitate hack already but it lets levitate all players at once).

Nr.2) If you are playing with multiple players the Super Turbo hack only works for Player 1. Is it possible to enable it for Player 2, 3 and 4 as well?

This problem is caused by the Max Speed Modifier (Super Fast Player/Fast Opponent Drivers) codes and not by the Super Turbo code. The improved Max Speed Modifier codes below should work fine now.

I think there are some more issues coming with this.

Now I have to hold L all the time to get turbo speed and when I do that one oponent driver drives ultra fast

The "PL1-4: Super Turbo" code works only for the following race modes:

(P1 vs. P2)
(P1 vs. P2 vs. P3)
(P1 vs. P2 vs. P3 vs. P4)

Below are Super Turbo codes for the other race modes.

Code: Select all

PL1+PL3: Super Turbo (Hold L) [Ralf]

40810008 38000008
60000000 00000000

Race Mode: (P1 & P2 vs. P3) or (P1 & P2 vs. P3 & P4)

Great work Ralf as usual!

There is something about this game that bothered me since my childhood. Depending on what class you take (50cc,100cc,150cc) the game sets a certain character-order in races. If you choose 50cc you always have to deal with light-weight characters in the first places, 100cc with middle-weight and 150cc with heavy-weight .. Is it possible to have a totally random order of characters in races? Maybe there is a code already but I haven't seen it yet .. :)

When i use the "Play Single Player Courses In Multi-Player Mode [Ralf]" code on nintendont (wii), Luigi circuit freezes the game before loading.
Other courses are fine so is it possible to disable the objet data swap only on that course?
