Wind Waker - are these AR codes equivalent, or is one preferable to the other?

Hello,
I'm trying to use AR codes to optimise Wind Waker to my tastes. I've found that, in some cases, there are two sets of AR codes which appear to achieve the same thing, in particular, removing the distance blur, and removing all letterboxing.

So, for removing blur, there's this, from Ralf:

Code: Select all

04008FE4 60000000
023F68B6 0000FF00
Vs. this, from Jaytheham.

Code: Select all

043FCB9C 00000000
And for removing letterboxing, there's this, from Ralf:

Code: Select all

041640A8 38800000
041640AC 908305FC
041674F4 480000E4
0417AE60 38000000
Vs. this, from Anarion:

Code: Select all

040804C4 60000000
040804CC 60000000
I'm not in a good position to compare the effects of the codes in each pair, since I only have one Gamecube and so can't run an effective side-by-side comparison. But are they effectively equivalent? Is there any good reason to opt for one code over the other? Thanks!

Anarion's remove letterboxing codes causes black screens in some scenes.

Great info - thanks! That simplifies things a little :)

If anyone has any info/thoughts on the blur codes then I'd love it hear it.
