SD Media Launcher Issues

Hello, I'm having an issue with SD Media Launcher. I just bought it, got a known working 2GB microSD and SD adapter. I have the newest AR/SDML disc and no matter what I try I can't get it to boot SDML, it just always displays Action Replay.

I've tried partitioning the microSD, various combinations of memory cards plugged into the GCN, still nothing. MicroSD is formatted as FAT. I've sent an email to Datel/Codejunkies.

Any thoughts?

I'm trying to pull the save files off my memory card (which the GCN is saying is corrupted) I have hundreds and hundreds of hours into Phantasy Star Online and I want to get my characters (mostly items that took many, many hours to get) back. And this version of Action Replay included is useless because I can't add codes to re-add the items I had.

Try a different SDgecko. Some of them can be flaky.

Will do. We'll see if Datel will send me a replacement before I buy one.

On a side note, is it possible to use a Gamecube save file on Dolphin Emulator, and put it back on a memory card and use it on the Cube?

GCMM homebrew can do that.
The old USB Gamecube memory cards are a pain to use on modern Windows. Apparently no official 64bit drivers.

I finally got around to getting a new SDGecko. I am able to access the SD card from SDML. My new issue is that while I can launch the boot.dol for SWISS, when I launch GCMM I just get a black screen. When I try and launch GCMM from SWISS it loads to 92% and freezes. Any ideas?

Which versions of Swiss and gcmm are you using? Is that black screen when you try launching it through the SDML menu?

I tried 1.4f and 1.4e of GCMM. It blackscreens when being launched through the SDML menu.

Swiss is whatever the latest version is. If I launch Swiss from SDML and then launch GCMM from Swiss it loads to 92% then freezes.

This is pretty unheard of, try a fresh GCMM and latest Swiss.

What do you mean by fresh? I tried 2 versions of GCMM and the latest version of Swiss.

Format a different SD card using something like SD Formatter in FAT32, place GCMM and latest Swiss on there and try again? Have only the bare minimum inserted in case if Swiss is trying to do something that's causing the freeze such as trying to initialise a BBA or output debug over USB Gecko in slot B.

Having similar problem. I have AR disc (compatible with Wii and GC) and a wisd memory adapter I got off eBay, along with a 2gb sandisk class 2 formatted to FAT16. Can't get it to launch SD. Tried adding SDLOADER.bin to it, doesn't work. I found I may need to run sdpatch.exe on the sd card but it says "Obtaining low-level access to drive...Failed. Could not create file!" at the end of the command. Do I need this step or am I getting sidetracked? If I do need it, anybody know to get it to access the drive?

SDLOADER.BIN and sdpatch are for the old Action Replay exploit.

Ok, so to boot the SD the only thing I need on it are the compressed or uncompressed DOL of latest swiss?

What's the difference between a RAW backup/restore and regular backup/restore?

Edit: which will I want for a memory card that wants to be formatted and I plan to format?

And do I want to format in the GC main menu or in GCMM?

A raw backup will be everything, every single byte that the memory card is comprised of, including the file allocation table and any previously erased data that might still be lingering around in now "unused" sectors, it's a 1:1 backup.

I'd only use this option (it might be the only way you can use it) to restore to the exact same size card. A raw backup is great because there are tools to extract the individual files from it anyway on PC.

Yes, this is EXACTLY what I am trying to do. I have an old Action Replay disk (not the SD loader), and I want to run SD's with it. I am trying to use SDPatch.exe but I get "Obtaining low-level access to drive...Failed. Could not create file!" and I've read this is because it's not compatible with anything past Windows XP. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I am forced to use Windows 10 only.

Unless you find a neighbour to help you, you may need to get VirtualBox and a XP volume on your computer.
