how far can modding go?
i always take it simple, just use a 2gb sd card for wii things... how far can it go? also, i can't patch dvdx onto the wii. it's black. dvdx is racist. i heard you can plug in and use a HDD USB up to 1 TB... i wonder what the limits are...

Re: how far can modding go?
I use a 32gb sd on my wii. Dvdx? Just use WiiMC. It plays dvd movies from disc (on supported Wii's) and from external HDD on any wii. Or plug an external dvd drive and play dvds that way on any Wii. As far as external hdd I have a 750gb with a 500gb partition for wii games and 250gb for gamecube games. Not sure what the limits are but that's what I have.

No problem. If you have a compatible drive that supports raw dump etc. then you can use that dvd drive in conjunction with uLoader app and play burned Wii games that way on your wii. I haven't found a solution similar to that which supports burned GC though as uLoader doesn't work for that.

NTFS = 256TB
FAT32 = 2TB
EXT4 = 1EB

Re: how far can modding go?
A FAT32 partition can be larger than 2TB. It can be 8TB with 32KB clusters, or 16TB with 64KB clusters. Even larger cluster sizes can be used, although they probably won't be recognized by windows.
Re: how far can modding go?
The bigger the cluster though, the more wasted space if that cluster isn't fully filled.
Re: how far can modding go?
... and files will be less fragmented, less memory/disk space will be required for the FATs and seek times within files will be smaller due to smaller cluster chains.
Nobody in their right mind would use clusters smaller than 32KB for a 2TB partition so there would be no difference in wasted space between 2TB vs. 8TB.
