a few questions about cleanrip

Hello, I am debating whether or not to use cleanrip to get iso files of the wii games I own since I sold my wii to my brothers (we do not live together) since theirs broke. I have a few questions which I would like answered:
1. what is the general read-write speed to usb2.0 ntfs? I know some said it is hard to do but that could be because of multiple partitions
2. which drive should I put the .dat files on? the SD card or the external itself?
3. is there a site to determine the size a file should be in advance? just want to check.
as stated above, I OWN all the games I am trying to rip, I just no longer have a wii to play them on. thank you

1. It's generally quite good, above 5mb/s for me. Use a simple drive with a single partition and you should be fine.
2. The .dat needs to go onto the drive you'll dump the files to.
3. Nintendo Wii ISO size: 4.37 GB (4,699,979,776 bytes) Nintendo Gamecube ISO size: 1.35 GB (1,459,978,240 bytes). I don't have the Dual Layer size off hand.

FWIW, even after downloading the two .dat files, I have never seen CleanRip display that any of my discs have been verified against the database, which suggests that the feature is not working correctly in the current release.
