Definitively using a computer equipped with a capture card.
It's far more flexible.

what about getting a monitor with HDMI and using that new adapter?

Not true, there are only a few PAL games noteworthy that don't support 480p.AC_Orange wrote:the only wii vga cables i've seen output only 480p which means most PAL games won't work :/

I know that you are meaning that adapter but why dont you wrote its name? its called hdmikey not "that new adapter" nobody knows that you mean that adapter cause there are also some new hdmi boxes or vga boxes on the market
btw you asked for an vga or dvi adapter not an hdmi adapter so I just said a way how to connect your wii via the hdmikey and a hdmi->dvi cable to your monitor. the quality when you are using such an adapter to convert an analog signal of the wii to a digital signal of hdmi gets very bad. the screen looks realy washed out and not sharp. the best thing is to use an adapter which doesnt scale up the resolution like using the original component cable of nintendo and then use a vga adapter like this:
http://www.amazon.de/Component-Video-au ... B004IUZFW6
so you dont change the signal from analog to digital and the picture isnt getting bad cause you stay at the resolution of 480p. and the hdmikey is only usefull if you want to use long cables for example more than 5m. if you want short the component cable from nintendo is the best choice for the best picture.

Depends how much you want you spend of course.liquitt wrote:what about getting a monitor with HDMI and using that new adapter?
I dont know if certain monitors still ship with component but my monitor TN panel - NEC 24WMCX has HDMI - DVI - VGA - Component inputs.
As the HDMI Key adaptor launched yet - its still on pre order at least on one site.

Then there's the issue of interlacing and the framerate. I've yet to see a capture device that allows input at 60 fps. Maybe I've been using the wrong kind of device. Every now and then, I hook up my gamecube to a USB video capture device. Haven't had any luck getting full framerate. Oh well. But still it can be convenient.
