Wii64 progress video from 2013

Post by emu_kidid » Fri Jun 26, 2015 5:48 am

Better late than never to show this old progress video from 2013 showing Wii64 with Rice and some Dynarec improvements (which Not64 already has superseded)

The main hype at the time if I remember was that we'd made Goldeneye near full speed and that DK64 was playable, enjoy.

Hopefully a release this year :P

Damn!
I thought this day would never come. :P

So with the Wii64's 1.2 Rice plugin additions and Not64's Dynarec improvements, could both be combined to achieve a Wii64 Out-Of-This-World Edition? :O

And here's hoping for a traditional September release. :P

I'm so looking forward to it!!!

Is there a possibility WiiSX will see at least one more release featuring some of the enhancements of the next Wii64?

I've been following Wii64 since the Twilight Hack days, always checking emulatemii almost daily for more news about it. It feels so nice and even nostalgic to see a Wii64 update on the horizon.

Thanks for totally making my day, emu_kidid. (^ー^)ノ

Finally, the dawn of the golden age in Wii Brew... Something so awesome; so advanced, that it reigns supreme over every Wii Brew app combined. Just one question though-- What's the interface like?.. Maybe I could get this vid to work on wii...

Looks great.

Stupid question but: would it hurt to just release what's already there just so we can test for ourselves and maybe enjoy some games that were previously not really playable? I'm thinking of Diddy Kong Racing, where the seizure water is really horrible to play with, and Adventure 2 is just black screen. Sure it'd probably be an alpha or beta, incomplete, stuff missing, but as long as it runs games and we can play them somehow, it'd be great to atleast be able to use this. Anyone who wouldn't want to fiddle around with it (idk what to expect) could just wait to the final release.

Wow its there! Its done its all finished and ready to go
Not 64 - January 2015 edition is what I've been using with its dynarec and Rayman works again
With this new version on the horizon  and Rice practically all games should now work.

The fix for DK64 should also make Banjo Tooie more stable than Not64.
I agree if both Wii64's Rice was merged with Not64 dynarec that d be awesome :D

Speculation aside...
I'm just going to keep quiet and wait until emukid_id puts out some new news instead of filling the thread up with more questions that emukid_id can't answer or doesn't want to answer yet.
I believe emu_kidid made a merge, or at least took some of the improved work done by Not64 in the meantime. Not sure until there's official confirmation, though.

That would be the most logical option.

Grab Not64 dynarec improvements and add to it the Rice plugin changes that were planned for Wii64's next release.
There, ultimate N64 emu!

Yes, I'd merged most of Not64's stuff in already. The dynarec changes that Extrems made trumped the changes we had such as fastmem loads & stores (and fixed bugs we had in our implementation).

We were hoping to rewrite the dynarec one more time (most of the translated code generated would remain the same) but it doesn't look like we've got the time on our hands any more to do it.

Does that mean that you guys will only tweak it a little bit more and release, or you will wait until you have the dynarec rewritten to do so?

Hopefully SM64 hacks can run better as well as removing that annoying buzz sound whenever going to a different world

Also hope, Master quest and Zeldas Birthday hack run with no problems

No because skipping frames isn't the heavy part like in WiiSX which is all software rendering, it's processing the actual display list that's a problem and these can't really be skipped for much benefit as far as I know.

I feel texture packs and netplay should be put on hold if it already isnt.

I mean you got to get the emulators performance done right and smoothly before something that major becomes an additional option, plus not 100% sure but wouldn't netplay be the buggest since different connection speeds and server speeds as well as any texture pack and maintaining a good speed of gameplay
The Wii's good but even it has it's limits

Don't see why it would be removed when it fixes up a few texture errors in some games

I see thanks for your awnser, also just wondering any actual chance to get hid support for the Wii u GC adapter running? im guessing not but doesnt hurt to ask since using GC controller on the wiiu to play n64 games would be preety fun but since wiiu pro will be supported now we wiiu users atleast have some controller option besides the dreadfull CC.

Damnit I'm so hyped about this.

Do you guys have any news on it?
Is a September release probable?

Can't wait to try out N64 games with the new plugin!
