Software rendering is much slower than hardware. One advantage it has it to test glitches and other bugs; it's pretty much useless for casual gaming.

we have no clue when the new release will be out. We work on it when we can - if I was to give you an ETA, the ETA would be 1 month to 2 years - that's how uncertain our free time is. Oh I meant Wii64 was/has been using a hardware renderer.
When we first ported our work for WiiSX, we used PEOPS Soft GPU because the OpenGL version was still closed source.

i just gotta start saving money because right here in the states were in a fuck up ecodomy right now

Donations are always a motivation booster since it lets us know how much you guys still want to see a new version. We're making progress nevertheless!
