Only EUR version of BattleTanx: Global Assault works, USA version instant-crashes?

(for reference, this occurs on ALL versions of Wii64 and Not64 - old, new, glN64, Rice, it doesn't matter)

One of quite possibly the oddest game compatibility issues is that the EUR version of BattleTanx: Global Assault works 100% perfectly from all of my testing, yet the USA version of the very same game instantly crashes when loaded.

I know that N64 emulation, especially on Wii, is quite hit-and-miss, but having the very same game of simply two different regions resulting in such a major compatibility difference just seems wacky to me.

Also, if it makes any difference, the original BattleTanx has the very same issue but that game only had a USA version. Since Global Assault released only 10 months later and graphically looks quite similar, it's very possible that they use the exact same game engine and therefore I would not be surprised if it is instant-crashing for the exact same reason.

EDIT: This also happens regardless of whether the recompilier or interpreter is used regardless of what build of Wii64/Not64 is used. For reference, the two aforementioned USA version roms launch fine in Cen64... well, at least in an older build of Cen64 from before the rewrite; the EUR version seems to launch in the newest non-experimental Cen64 though (who knows, maybe Cen64 is having the same problem and could be useful for pin-pointing the cause of the issue?)

All three roms have SHA-1 checksums that match no-intro's database:

BattleTanx (USA only): 535860d941738ac1210c20a9b80114fea0e0ff17
BattleTanx: Global Assault (USA): 805248fb0a0ee694cad8d7dc927b631d860dd8cf
BattleTanx: Global Assault (EUR): aefade7a37a4716ddc82a6b67ba085cbf7c27259

EDIT 2: These three roms are all z64 since it's my impression that z64 is all that no-intro catalogs for N64 games, not to mention Cen64 being a cycle-accurate emulator only supports z64.
