Xenogc flashing...

Post by DragonBoy » Mon Sep 10, 2012 7:42 am

A friend of mine brought me his Cube with a Xeno GC 1.01 firmware. He asked me if I could flash it with its latest firmware 1.05 in order to be able to boot multigame discs... I noticed at the wiki page http://www.gc-forever.com/wiki/index.ph ... noGC_Clone under "Additional features" that the chip is "DVD Disc upgradeable". Does that mean that I can find a disc image (or probably have to find a way to compile a dol from the source code), burn it to a disc and flash the chip by simply booting it up? Thank you very much! :)

Yes , you could just write the .dol in an sd and run it through swiss.
linky

BUT
You MUST connect the microcontroller's RESET pin to GND so it can enter programming mode.

No, this can't be done through software.

Thank you for the answer... Does that mean that in order to flash it I need to have the dol and at least a parallel programmer?

Thank you very much guys! I'll do my research on how to compile it and if I get stuck I'll annoy you again! :) Εννοείτε emu_kidid, είμαστε πανταχού παρόν! :P όλοι οι Έλληνες λατρεύουμε το cubaki! (Greeks love the Gamecube!) :)

...compile what? >_>
Unless you're making a custom xeno firmware you don't need to compile anything.

Just making sure :D

Hehe yes, you're right... I just noticed that it's already in .dol form (xenoflash.1.05.dol)... Silly me! I thought that I had to compile it from source... :P

Just came back from work and I tried to flash it with the Swiss-SD Gecko method that SouLSLayeR suggested... had 100% success! :) now the chip is on 1.05! Thanks again for your help guys! (Ευχαριστώ πολύ! :D )
