GCP WKF/Worklog
GCP WKF/Worklog
Im gonna have all my questions and worklog photos in this one thread as I have been told to do multiple times lol!
Anyways, I have case(ZN-40) Dalian 5" good screen, wiikey fusion Clone, and rev c motherboard. Im going to be using the on board regulator (12v) instead of building a custom regulator (a little out of my skills)
I have all the tools and parts for the work!
Now with that said! Im trying to install my wiikey fusion now, and am finding it extremly difficult to split the ends of the cable like ashen in his instructions! Wow is that hard to do! Is there an other option other than that and the breakout board??? Im not using the dd and want it gone!!!
Any help would be appreciated! Pics coming soon!

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
double check your wiring, check continuity, and check again before power up...

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
Probably a stupid question but should I solder them then check. I was merely touching the points with end of wires to check to see if it would power the screen. And also can I use a different ground on the gc mobo?

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
check the connection points to confirm those are the correct locations then solder then check again...
POWER wires hanging loose are not always a good thing...well maybe unless you are hot wiring a car, then the leads kinda need to hang...
GND is GND is GND....
trick question: when is GND not GND? answer: when its not GND

Ok will give it another try
Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
Are the pins from the DVD drive just supposed to fit inside the holes for the mega dr?

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
yup, it will be harder to fit if you have globs of solder at the pin ends...
just cut the globs and use the clean pin area to fit it right thru...
i think you might be the guinea pig installation...
find me on irc if you need a walkthru

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
Ok we'll the way I'm doing it is the clean side of the pins I've got them all trimmed down and straight and going to try in slide it on. Hopefully according to your directions pin 29 goes to top left of motherboard which I'm guessing is toward the power?

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
clean up the solder joints...you want to make sure there are no shorts before powering on the system...
since you are building a portable, you will want to solder the two lid switch wires to each pad marked lid...
then solder your pin29 switch lead to the pad marked pin29
then double check again to be certain none of these solder joints are shorted, then power on the system....

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
are you soldering for the first time? seems so, and also seems there is no flux anymore. the solder points look realy mat.
Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
Yup first timer here! I'm going to pull it out and redo it as its not up to even my standards ha thanks for the advice man!
Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
maybe you should practice on something else instead rather than waste this beautiful piece of hardware?
please search before you ask - a lot has been discussed already!
