Tv help

Post by hammurabi8 » Thu Jan 16, 2014 12:02 am

Hello, thank you for looking! A club I have at school wants to start playing gamecube games during meetings, and as the president I was charged with figuring out how. I need to locate a tv small enough to store in the classroom, cheap enough to be bought with club funds, and that has the proper hookups. So if you all could help point me in the right direction, that would be a big help. Thank you!

how small of a TV?
there are 3" monitors but might not be ideal for a gather around and play/watch

Is just American region specific enough? I can ask the person if not. For screen size, nine inch is probably the smallest I want to go.

ok, you have an NTSC, which means the best signal you can get off it is S-video if you don't want to buy the hi-end cable.

For that quality image I would suggest you get a small CRT tv with an S-video input. The image quality on a LCD screen would be wasted if your using anything less than component video.

you can get CRTs all over the place for like, $20 depending on size and you'd want to order this cable off ebay

try looking at the goodwill or some other secondhand store, sometimes you can find some great little TVs for very cheap..just hame sure it has a yellow composite video or the svideo input
and take a friend with you to open the door while you are holding that TV
:)

this is the same cable posted above..a little bit cheaper

Thanks so much guys! We went to goodwill and nabbed a small old tv. I'm curious why I need to order the cables, wouldn't the person with the game cube already have them, or are they extra for this kind of tv?

You don't need to order the cables if your cube comes with one. The S-video cable however allows for a better quality image than the regular yellow/(white/red) composite cables that it usually comes with

My GameCube was hooked to my TV with a RGB SCART cable.
I wonder if it was better than S-Video.
Now it's in component so there is no asking :)

RGB is better than scart and only available on PAL gamecubes
Svideo is only available on NTSC gamecubes

You can use a SCART cable for pure RGB video, it's no different from using any other cabling interface to output RGB. Maybe you're thinking of shitty "AV SCART" cables that don't have the RGB pins wired?
