Gamecube support SDXC?

Post by kinect360 » Sun Feb 23, 2014 10:19 pm

Does swiss support SDXC or only SD and SDHC? I am looking to get a 64gb sdxc at 60mb/s read and 40mb/s write. Im guessing the gamecube has read and write caps as well, does anyone know them? No point on wasting money on a high performance card if the gamecube can utilize that performance.

Swiss supports SD,SDHC,SDXC from the SDGecko. Speed is going to be around 2.3mb/s so don't bother with any fancy cards designed for high performance photography/etc.

The Wiikey Fusion/WASP SD only allows reading up to 64GB of a SDXC card due to a limitation in the code on the WKF/WASP which we cannot change (yet?). For example I can use my 128GB SDXC and it will only allow 64GB of it to be read in Swiss.

Okay great thanks for the information :) The only reason to buy a fancier card would to be for the higher write speeds > transferring isos to the sd.

I will but accordingly now thanks again!

is it possible to create 2 Partitions with 64 GB each for use with WKF?

No, there's a certain sector limit that is hit so partitions won't make a difference. Example is, you can see the FAT table for the entire 128GB but you can't read files that are placed on SD after 64GB.

What about the WKF speed limit ? Is a class 10 SD worth it ?

As previously stated, 2.3mb/s is the cap I believe.

It's the EXI speed limit. The drive port and thus WKF is something else IIRC.

Wiikey Fusion is much faster, I haven't done any speed tests but it'd be > 10mb/s.

Hard to find a class 4 64gb card, they are usually all class 10 or UHS

I use a 2GB SD card I bought in 2006.
There are no specifications on this card because I guess specs were not printed on the packages back then
There is no class either

It has been performance tested and verified to meet the max EXI cardslot speed
Likewise, it performs with no issues thru WKF/WASP slot..

Remember the modchips only emulate up to 3x DVD speed for GC
1,385 kB/s x3 = 4,155 kB/s or about 4MB/s

What they're saying is, just don't spend extra for a higher class card. Get the cheapest card you can find for the size you want.

Yes, exactly as deckard mentioned.

I'll implement a speed test into Swiss to display speed just before a game is booted - this is already happening for SDGecko but I'll implement it for more devices.

Yes I understand what they are saying lol, what I am saying is there is no lower class option for the size I want.

Yeah, I believe 64gb and up are all standard class 10. I just got two 32gb class 10 40mbit/s micros from my local Bestbuy for $31 each. They had a huge sale.
