GCos Multigame DVD

Post by NeoCortex » Sun Nov 28, 2010 5:02 pm

Hej it's me again annoying you

Is GCos (in any version) able to boot a MultiGame DVD?
I tryed to read some readmes and google for it, but it's hard to find gamecube related informations nowadays.

If yes, which programm would i use to create a multigame iso?
I found Multigame ISO creator version 3.2.4F+ by patman but it looks like this is only for a Wii + modchip.
GCM Ultility 0.5 crashes when i try to create a multigame iso (TProgressBar hors limites)

Thanks for all the patience you have with me :)

I just created a testdvd, put 3 games on it with the Multigame ISO creator.
GCos 1.5 recognizes it as "GCos Multigame DVD" and starts it.
It boots into a Menu "GCos MultiGame DVD9 Ver" that seems to come from the DVD.
Sad part, it only shows the first game on the DVD even the DVD has 3 on it.

Edit:
Created a second dvd with emu_kidids "GCOS MultiGame Creator V4F" same result.
Put 3 games on it and it only shows the first one on the disc.

Are you trying these on a Gamecube? GCOS Multigame dvd's have the bootloader menu installed on them so they can self-boot. The bootloader menu is possibly only showing one game (the first) because the second and subsequent game(s) are going past the 1.35GB read limit that the GC has.

If this is on a Wii, let me know what drive you're using + modchip.

I thought the gamecube laser can actually read up to 3.1GB of data or something like that with the case removed. I seem to recall seeing this somewhere in some forum.

No, that's a lie. People used to pad backups up to 3GB because there was a myth that the laser would try to read past the end of the track and screw up.

this is simply impossible by any physical means. just have a look at the laser/drive :)

Well in case of Baten Kaitos, padding it to 3GB helps to get it work from backup disc on a Wii. I tried everything i could to find out what causes the random crashes if you don't do it, but i haven't found anything. It looks like it's speed related, i expect the wii to the data faster, the closer it is to the outer edge.

Does any of the Baten Kaitos games work in SD-Boot? If not, random crashes?
