Home Built SD Gecko Questions/Problems

Post by Hifeno » Mon Oct 20, 2014 1:17 am

So I took a Micro SD card adapter and wired it into a GCN memory card. I connected the corresponding pins and connected both of the sense lines together as well. What is the best way to test it to see if it works. Is there a good app for this. I am using it on a Wii with Dios Mios installed. Will that work?
I have read different places that Micro SD will work but then others said it won't. Please if someone can help me. I am new to the Gamecube modding side of things.

You need something that'll let you boot GameCube homebrew, not sure what DIOS MIOS does (there's been so many MIOS hacks I don't want to even want to try).

Anyway once you have that, boot Swiss and see if you can read an SD card, boot any emulators for GameCube (FCEU, Snes9x, GenPlus GX) and see if you can use the SD.

Ah yes, it can. Press X or Y on a GC controller or 1 or 2 on the Wiimote, it's been a while!

What should happen once I do that? I see the little gecko at the bottom but it does not light up.

If you press the button I am thinking of, a device selector should pop up and if your SD card is correctly detected it will let you select it. Selecting it and if you have content in /apps/ should show the apps.

Great. It works perfectly. Now what are some of the cool things I can use it for?

Oh, come on. You can boot GameCube homebrew and ISOs from Swiss.
Hardware: Wii (PAL)

Pointless when you can use devolution on the Wii or Wii mode homebrew.
