Wasp + Qoob

Post by Xaranar » Tue Dec 01, 2015 2:46 pm

Is it possible to have these two chips installed simultaneously? And, probably more pertinent, is there any real point in doing so?

Possible: yes, useful: no. The Wasp allows booting homebrew and game backups so there's really no point in using the Qoob with it.

Though with a Wasp, you need to remove the disc drive under normal circumstances. Having a separate cube with a Qoob and disc drive would make sense, yes?

Yeah indeed, unless you use a megadrive v4 or v3 + a drive you can swap in when you need it (you can hotswap the drive once Swiss has booted).

Hotswap the drive? Ugh, gamecube is a pain to take apart as it is...

you can have wasp + qoob connected at the same time but there is no point since nothing can be gained by having the two together

A wasp + qoob would be useful to boot games with audio streaming with the disc drive, while the WASP will handle all other titles.

You don't need the Qoob at all for that, Swiss handles it all.

Does Swiss support audio streaming now?

It has always supported AS from DVD.

As for booting from Qoob, it's possible but I'm not very knowledgeable on the Qoob (don't have one).
Doesn't matter when you have a wasp anyway since Swiss boots from there.
