That says that he is out of stock. It's been saying that for awhile. Anybody else? Any idea when he will get more in stock? I've been wanting one of these for some time.

I had to go through a lengthy process to log onto this form. I have to make a post because no one else has said anything. The post above suggests looking at Badass Consoles for a UltraHDMI board. I can guarantee that he will take your money and not produce a product. He has done that to me twice and I was lucky that I got only one of them refunded. You should look at Dan (@citrus3000psi), looking at Videogame Perfection, or going to Jason over at Game-tech. The dude who makes it name is Marshall, and he only makes batches when he can. Go watch over at RetroRGB as he makes does a news feed of when he has a new batch being made. But please, please. Don't give Badass Consoles any more money. He will take it and you will never see it again. A cautionary tale.

Hi guys,

Sorry for bumping this thread up, but it was the closest to a UltraHDMI question that I would like to ask.

The firmware is upgradeable and downloadable from its website. I was wondering, does anyone know if it is encrypted (thus decryption takes place within the board it sits on)? Or can one freely peek at the file itself?

Hope everyone's staying safe!

I don't think it is encrypted, because iirc the FPGA does not support that. However, I am pretty sure there is some IP protection in place. Not sure what you are trying to accomplish here?

To be fair My opinion on the ultra HDMI is that is highly overrated yes it’s very very cool and it has very cool options and it progresses in 1080P. But think about this I saw a new RGB board for the n64 and it also has a OSD and has digital sound and it’s 85 usd also I can install it myself. My biggest turn off to ultra HDMI is that I couldn’t install it because I had to send my console to someone and really if you see it in person compared to a (good) RGB mod I’m sorry not much difference a little brighter yes but 120 dollars for a little brighter picture no thanks. Oh which reminds me you guys do know gcvideo lite can do n64 and don’t need no special Expensive cables or “expert” installation which is another story all together.

Bottom line try before you buy and you’ll see very overrated also I don’t trust that flex pcb connector for years of use

RGB over Composite or s-Video is a big step forward, if you have a display that is good at RGB (and don't rely on any adapter), and can get rid of that crawling artifact due to composite video taken as Sync signal (LM1881 or 1980 are your friends at it). Then, going from RGB to HDMI won't be that huge a step, especially if the source signal is analog at first and can't get over 240p/480i, if you let alone the video options offered by digital enhanced devices/cables.

I have an RGB cable for my GCs almost from day one, back in the days, and mainly got an HDMI cable for the "HD" modes (576/480p that you can't get on an N64), because of the latency beeing better then on my TV, and the ability to display two consoles on it at once (not available from RGB/composite inputs). But then, I don't use it that much because the RGB cable is much more convenient.

I know there is much work behind those devices and that not so much people would buy them, so that makes their high prices, but for me, over $100 to just have an analog signal converted to digital is too high, specially when the device is devoluted, or even sometimes, soldered, to one console.

It’s not an analog signal It’s straight digital to digital That’s why you install it before it hits the video converter

What would be the point of installing the mod after the DAC that makes no sense

My bad If I took the Ultra HDMI for anothe N64 mod I've seen before, that just hooked to the analog signal.

So there are many mods that make no sense. :D
Many older consoles don't even have a DAC, and getting real digital data for display can be tricky, (when even possible), see the Atari 2600 mods.
Anyways, back to the N64, getting digital won't help that much, unless you can force and make real use of the high definition capability, otherwise 720p will only be 240p line tripling.
Still, if you're fond of special functions such as scanlines (I'm not personally), this is an interresting option.

Well the ultra HDMI can do 1080P weather it’s upscaling or line quadrupling the OSSC can also do something somewhat the same and I can’t tell if the the UltraHDMI is really worth the trouble of finding someone selling for some ultra price gouging then find someone to install it (I would install it myself) but in the end is it worth it I can’t bring myself to do it shell out that much for a console I consider not the greatest the last classic console for me was 16bit systems I had both SNES and Genesis. It’s a lot cheaper to make an gcvideo lite 0.9 and flashing N64 firmware to it and I don’t need no 80 dollar hd retro crap cables which are sold out everywhere you can just use cheap normal component cables I wonder why no one improved the N64’s gcvideo firmware it was the only thing holding me back from doing that type of mod instead and most people didn’t even know you could use a gcvideo lite device (not dvi) on N64

Haha, that's a good one guys!

I actually obtained one recently, and I just made a high-res scan of it.

Thoughts would be appreciated :)

Thoughts are that this is not the place to talk about such things, I respect the work/effort Marshall put into the UltraHDMI and I don't want you trying to rip off his work, thread closed.
