Side note to Zenloc's big discovery. The Wode jukebox also uses a linux based GC loader. I'm thinking now it will probably be compatible with the cube also.

All board except rev. C (with the built-in regulator) can be slimmed down just as much. Tchay has taken of a couple of those 5 legged transistors off which makes it slightly more cut than other known cuts but I am actaully going to rewire all those transistor and wire directly to the prossesor chip. Making it possible to cut it down even more.

I'm gonna give it a try tomorrow and see if everything is still working properly. You should see the case design I'm going to make for it!! Super small. With super small analogs which nobody has ever seen before used in a portable and a combination of buttons from a tiny gamecube controller and a wii classic controller.

Emu_kidid is it possible to make a different skin on the WiiKey fusion menu?? Would look more slick if it had a theme of some sort.

By the way does the sundrive also use a linux based loader? If so shouldn't it then also work. Maby the reason it didn't work for Ashen was because it wasn't updated to the most recent firmware and that the wires were to long....

Having a 1.8" hdd full with GC games would be even better!!

Gonna be honest there are no small analogs on the market which are better than the ones I'm going to use. They are from a Tapwave zodiac pda. I have contacted the repair service and was able to aquire the last batch of analogs that they had. The are super tiny and super responsive and work on every controller I've tested them on. The NGP analog's don't look that great to me. Ofcourse only time will tell...

Sundriver uses some hacked version of the crazy taxi GC .iso as a loader. Dunno if updating it would help or not. Anyone have a nero dual programmer I can borrow?

Do those use use the same concept as regular sticks with 2 potentiometers, or is it some other ingenious system?

Just think of it as a normal analog with 2 pots but just 3 times smaller....oke maybe 2 time

I've got a nero burner programmer and a sundrive. I'm gonna update it tomorrow and see if I can get it working. I forgot about the crazy taxi loader thing yeah. Hmmm I wonder if it'll work.

Everything is the same for the Wiikey Fusion connection with the exception of pin32 wiiside needs 3.3v from the GC regulator. I will update the guide when I get home tonight.

Its kind of a moot point now but here are some pics of my slimmed Wii Drives with the daughterboard attached, very tiny indeed.









Turns out these cases are MUCH smaller than they are advertised 7.5" long x 5.5" tall my ass... anyway a 3.5" or 4" screen might work out real nice with a wiikey. Case is very comfy to hold

one shop says that the WiiKey Fusion is compatible to Wii and Gamecube. I bet he's talking about the games...if he only knew

That slimmed drive is looking sweet. Especialy with that small drive board. SD loader or not having a discdrive option is still interesting. Pity it can't play backup's though.

Also note that when connecting the wiikey fusion even with the disc drive connected it will always load the linux bootmenu. So you can't read any disc with it. Not exactly sure why it works like that. As the bootmenu is on the chip itself. The sd card only hold the game iso's.

If you have an older cube with a separate regulator board, you can get 3.3/3.4V and 1.9V from it. The purple pins carries 3.3 and the yellow ones 1.9V.

@ Ashen : A couple of questions about the sun driver. I've updated it to the most recent version but everytime I get the same "timing error" as you did. I tried many different timings but it just won't load the crazy taxi boot loader. I have a 4 way switch on every voltage line and ground.

Did you have the 3,3v line drive line connected? Was the eject button linked to ground. I though it might be a firmware region lock but I have connected it to a USA wii and everything loads up fine. I wonder what it could be....

Zenloc, To get the Sun to initialize properly you need to turn the power lines to the sun on right after boot, just after the cube starts spinning on the screen. You will know you got it right if the blue light on the sun stays on for a few seconds then flickers and turns off. The odd thing about when I got it to boot the sunmenu loader before was that in the PC programmer I had the sundriver set to "PC Config" "USA region" and "region lock" boxes ticked. The game selected to boot from the drive was twilight princess ntsc, yet it would load the bootloader screen.

I did a bit more messing about with mine this morning and it does seem like a region lock issue. I can replicate the bootloader loading easily by using the settings above. Anytime it does load the bootloader though it does not show any games on the HDD and upon hitting any button the GC resets and wont boot the bootloader again until the system is powered off and the process is repeated. Anytime I set it to use the bootmenu in the PC config I get "gamecube cannot read disc" standard region error. I've even tried writing some regular NTSC GC games as the bootloader with the same effect. Maybe try it on a PAL cube and see what happens? Honestly I think we are better off spending time with the WODE now. The WODE uses a linux loader just like the Wiikey and it takes USB HDD's. which will run off of 5v

Edit: Also yes, I had pin29 going to ground/switch1.9v and pin 32 to 3.3v when working with the sun.

Hmmmm strange. I turned on the sundriver at the moment you are saying but it will not load. I also have a completly different programmer. It's called SUN-ISO Application v015. Maybe I'm using the wrong one. I have far less options as the porgram you are using.

I'm gonna mess about with it a bit and see what I can get. As for the WODE I have already ordered one. So hopefully I'll be able to test that too. Shipping will take awhile though as it's coming from another country.
