Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE to GC tutorial + Compatibilit
Ashen wrote: When first connecting a Wiikey Fusion to a gamecube you will need to update it to v1.5 Wiikey Fusion firmware for it to work with the GameCube properly. This update can be done right on the GameCube, However you must have an SD card inserted at system power on with only the v1.5 firmware update on it for the Wiikey to boot properly and to recognize the SD card inserted. All Wiikey Fusions I've received so far have shipped with v1.0 firmware flashed to them, so this is required most if not all of the time.
i was searching for the answer but couldnt find it....
what exactly is the problem with WKF 1.0 firmware and GC???
i only ask because i have WKF 1.0 firmware....after power up i see the IPL load screen with the GC logo (like normal) and then the WKF menu pops up. I press "A" button and GC resets to load the game...
i dont have to press switch for pin 29 at all...
so im a little confused as to why firmware 1.5 upgrade is required....
edit...hmmm...is the 1.0 firmware issue related to having multiple titles on one sd card?

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE to GC tutorial + Compatibilit
their Wiikey menu is broken in 1.0 I think or something. I tried 1.0 with Swiss, and it seems the commands must be different.

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE to GC tutorial + Compatibilit
Yea, v1.0 wkf firmware has no support for GC games.

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE to GC tutorial + Compatibilit
any way to make Zelda Four swords (plus) to boot?
wiikey: no boot
swiss (0.2): crashes with junk text
swiss (0.3): not tried yet.
also what about changing the game's region from Ntsc-J to PAL or NTSC-U?

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE to GC tutorial + Compatibilit
I'm trying to replace the bad optical drive in my Japanese Cube with a Wiikey Fusion, and I have a question about signal grounds; does pairing the signals with their proper grounds make a difference? If so, to which pins on the Wiikey Fusion should I connect GC pins 10 and 16?
Also, on a more general subject (noob alert), is it OK to use lead-free solder on the PCB? I'm trying to avoid soldering onto the PCB as far as possible following my failure with region switch mod, but I need to take 3.3V from the regulator, and it makes sense to take it from the top side of the board. I'm using a Japanese board made in China before 2006, so I guess lead solder was used, but I read somewhere that the two kinds don't work together.
Thanks for any advice.

Solder all grounds together
10 and 16 are also GND
Ive never had any problem combining Lead and Lead free solder..

Thank you, that helps.

Hi everbody,
i'am from germany, i hope my english is not soooo bad!
I have a few questions about this nice mod you have done ashen!
I hope you can help me out.
The first question ist about the following switch, can you tell me where i can buy such a swich or what ist the correct label for this switch?
The second question ist about the diagramm.
Can i bridge the ground pins on the adapter board and solder only one wire to a ground point @ gc side? Or doe i have solder every ground pin to a ground pin @ gc side?
Thanks in advance!

http://www.reichelt.de/Schnappschalter- ... 9b9f575a16

So if i understand you right, i can do it like that?
I hope it is okay, that i have edited the orignal, otherwise please remove!
Thanks in Advance

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE to GC tutorial + Compatibilit
du machst dass viel zu kompliziert. machs wie im ersten bild da is bereits alles drauf was du brauchst. du musst nicht nochmal alles brücken wenns schon gebrückt ist.
english: you are thinking much complicated than it is in real, you have to solder everything like shown in the first picture. you dont have to solder bridges where already are some.

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE to GC tutorial + Compatibilit
My problem is that for my opinion the gnd pins are bridged/merged together in the diagramm. This is the question, do i have to solder these pins on the adapter board together or not? On GC-Side it is clear that i don't have to solder the pins together. I don't want to screw my wiikey :/.

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE to GC tutorial + Compatibilit
nochmal:

Thx for your answer. I think the diagramm is slightly misleading.

The only question i had was do i have to bridge all the even ground connections on the FFC cable/Adapter Board or Not? :O
You say Yes i have to?
Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE to GC tutorial + Compatibilit
No, you don't have to. Is it a good idea to? Yes.
Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE to GC tutorial + Compatibilit
Hello Ashen, thanks, then i will bridge these connections, and all should be fine!Ashen wrote:No, you don't have to. Is it a good idea to? Yes.

um, about the WFK compabatly list,
i tested my pal ver of Crash Bandicoot: the wrath of cortex,
it works fine, but no background music or charater voices can be heard? why? EG. Hub music or DR. Coretex voice etc.
on dolphin 3.0 on mac it works fine with bg music and voices, but why in wfk it has no sound?
Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE to GC tutorial + Compatibilit
Because Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex uses audio streaming.
If you want to play any games with audio streaming then you will need to play them from disc.

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE to GC tutorial + Compatibilit
that sounds like a fix, but my GCP uses wfk only. i can try swiss and see if that fixes the issue, maybe.kel01 wrote:Because Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex uses audio streaming.

i have more games i tested out to add to the compatibly list:
Pal:
Metriod prime 1*
Metriod prime 2 echoes*
Pokemon XD: gale of Darkness*
sonic riders*
starfox assult*
more to add
