interest check:
one of my projects requires a memory card shell housing....
i will need 100 memory card shells for 100 of my designed boards...
since i need the shell only, i will not need 100 memory card boards...
i am currently pricing 64MB and 128MB memory cards..
i could get 4MB memory cards for more than half the price and still cheaper than SD Gecko but i dont think anyone would want to buy those..the higher capacity memory cards have at least a better chance of selling to help offset total project costs...
anyone interested in upgrading your old 4MB, 8MB, or 16MB card with a simple 1 minute board swap for about 3$ or 4$ ??
or if anyone wants to add an internal memory card, or portable GC build??

Have you thought about making a silicone casting mold? Supplies to make 100 memcard shells would likely cost less than $50.

Re: 64MB / 128MB memory card - upgrade??
thanks for the link...have you ever used this stuff?
looks like a time consuming process....i could possibly make my own, but since im close to beginning production phase and final release of products, im not sure if i could handle another side production load....
i was hoping to use the memory card housings as a ready available solution with a slight modification for my needs....
also im thinking if i dont get close to 100 votes, i might just scrap the memory card housing idea...
as it is right now, im looking at about 500$ for 100 x 128MB memory cards.....450$ for 100 x 64MB memory cards...
since 128MB memory cards can be purchased on ebay for 5.50$, im not sure if a 3$ or 4$ memory card board upgrade is an attractive purchase....
either way, figuring out what to do about this is my last hurdle before production....
in all reality i might not need the shell but i would feel better selling this project with some kind of external protection....

Re: 64MB / 128MB memory card - upgrade??
with only 9 votes in this poll, that pretty much provides me with the answer...
in the long run, i guess not spending the money for cards just to use the cases will actually help lower cost of the final product...
as an alternative, i have been working a backup plan and reached out to the BSoD guys who have access to a 3d printer...
they will help us out by making customized cases for one of my projects...
thanks to everyone who voted to voice your opinions...

I'd take the biggest one you offer, just the board, for a portable, depending on if I have the money at the time
