Wave Race Blue Storm DVD via Wiikey Fusion issue

Has anyone here with a WKF + DVD connected tried Wave Race Blue Storm via the following setup/method:

1. DVD Drive without XenoGC connected through a WKF
2. Boot GC with SD Card and autoboot Swiss
3. Boot Swiss r216
4. Remove WKF SD Card, Insert Wave Race Blue Storm (DVD-R)
5. Go to "DVD Disc", boot the game

Mine seems to die on the menu (Green screen, Audio still streaming) before the "Press Start" comes up, I've tried the backup in another GameCube which has only a Qoob and it works fine so it's not the disc. I'm just curious if it's wiring related or a general issue with the WKF when in passthru mode. And yes, I've tried another Audio Streaming title but it wasn't as intense (Zelda CE menu streams audio).

The DVD Drive isn't in great shape but I tried with another and the crash happened at the exact same spot.

Might be a latency thing? Are you using the really long FFC mega supplied with his kits? Try a shorter FFC if you have one available there. I know both the Wii dvd drive and GC drive can start acting funny when wires get too long.

yep I'm using the really long FFC.. not sure if I can get away with using anything much shorter though as I've got the WKF sitting between the drive cage and the dvd mainboard (insulated, etc). I'll try another shorter one though. The game crash details (via USBGecko debug) don't make sense and should never happen so it could very well be latency, it's basically an issue with getting the data across.

the cable supplied with MEGAdrive is actually shorter in length than the WODE ffc cable...
and all development tests of the MEGAdrive used kynar wire in longer length than the supplied cable...



i tried Waverace on my system but i have a bad disc...fails to read on an unmodified GC also....
i will acquire a new disc in a few days to help in testing

I'll try my original disc to see if it makes any difference as well as a few more intense audio streaming titles (StarFox)
