Hi Guys,

i recently installed XenoGC on my Gamcube and I saw that there is a soldering above the XenoGC on the right side (see picture).

Does anybody have a clue why those two points are soldered together?

Thanks.

emu_kidid and i noticed this a while back while doing research on a project...
while we are not sure the reason for this, it seems possible this drive board might have been from a GC sent to nintendo for repair.
either that or nintendo screwed up the design and this was their quick fix...

notice under the drive board version there is also an additional marking of 0306
this is the only driveboard which has this type of additional marking..
other than that, there is nothing else which has been noticed to be different about this driveboard and it performs exactly the same as other driveboards...

sometimes dvd schematics have the trvm+ and trvm- on them and they have something to do with the mechanism unit

i finally found a 0306 drive board which does not have the solder blob...
i still wonder, was this cap left off the design by accident or nintendo did not realize the cap was needed until testing of the board was performed...
